I think it was Samuel Clements who said, "I would never trust a man who didn't have some petty vice".
He was smarter than I so, I'll take his advice.
I have watched so many folks smoke and drink, and live to be well into their 90s that I have my doubts about how bad a moderate habit is. A cigar or pipe in the evenings or to celebrate along with a glass of good liquor is a far cry from a pack of cigarettes and two six packs a day habit. Moderation may well be the key to a long and happy life. I enjoy having a smoke. But your business is none of mine so if you are happy, then more power to ya. Good luck with the quiting thing. I hope it goes well for ya. Goodluck.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

Chad, I would have to agree with you & ol' Sam too...really would rather have a few petty vices to enjoy....(guess I have to sneak down to my Man Cave in the future to do so...)
I usually go thru about 2/3rds of a pack of ciggs a day & more when I drink.....still have my pipe collection & will more than likely enjoy a nice Cavendish, or Golden Burley on future occasions (she likes the smell) from time to time.
Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy tobacco & especially with the right spirits. But the apple of my eye has forced the issue upon me... that I need to end my addiction to ciggarettes in particular..... And so I will try....

Yea kick the nails and opt for a nice Peterson full of Stokabies. They blend a nice Cavendish with a small amount of Latakia man that stuff is sweet. If ya make it down to my neck of the woods bring ya pipe. I have a small collection of nice toby.

Remember that Twilight Zone episode were the guy was all ready to live out the post-apochalypse with all his favorite books & then broke his glasses? I don't know how bad your eyesight is but you might want to bring along a spare pair of glasses.
