Absolutely. Harleys are to motorcycling what Kid Rock is to music.

Yeah, well what I personally liked in that article was the reading of his newest song's title: "I Can't Hear You Over The Rumble of My Freedom."

Ya see, the reason I like it isn't so much that its somehow "timelessly poetic", but I'm thinkin' IF that ever catches on at all, it MIGHT just replace that tired old excuse of..."Loud Pipes Save Lives"!!!!

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

That's different...we like Trumpets so it automatically doesn't make it the same category.

they had already partnered up with Ed Hardy to make the complete douchebag collection, so this isn't all too surprising

The big difference is that Steve McQueen and Marlon Brando aren't douchebags...

Kid Rock screams douchebaggery and fits well with the Ed Hardy-ish crap that Harley is now putting out.

Im going to be in a dissonant here, not for ed hardy, he is just a designer,, But up until the last cd, I really like Kid rock. If he would just get off his country kick and make a kick butt record again. Say what you will, Kid supports the troops and puts a lot of time into the USO shows. Those are all non or low profit events for him. (If someone says "Yea but its free PR",,,,I just want to remind everyone Bob Hope would say different)

and Loco is very correct in his assessment. Like it or not the marketing is going for the next generation or two down. How may 20 somethings do you see buying a triumph? It takes a lot to grab young $$$. I think it wont be too long b4 the Ex HD guy in Atlanta follows trend. Sad truth is ,,, Marketing is marketing.

It's not so much Ed Hardy as a designer...he knows his market and has succeeded well. It is the people who wear his crap. Prime example...go to any UFC event. The juiced up morons with their frosted tip hair, fake tans, white puma runners, $400 designer jeans and their metallic Ed Hardy / Affliction shirts. They tend to have an attitude like they are so much better than everyone else and it's all about looks. Total turn off for this girl...I like my men real and able to get dirty!

As for Kid Rock...I think in all his time, there is only one song I thought he did well. He just isn't my kind of "artist". But he definitely suits hooking up with the growing doubhbag market of Harley Davidson.

Disclaimer - I have a lot of friends who ride Harleys...but they ride Harleys because of the love of the brand and the history, not because they feel it will get them laid or make them look like they are somehow connected to the 1% clubs.

HD hiring kid rock for their big anniversary party in Milwaukee is still way better than the (100th?)when they hired Elton John.
now that was a bold marketing move

IMHO kid rock does put on a hell of a show.

I wasn't even going to mention the tools that wear Affliction and Tapout shirts
I'd guess that 90% of the jack wads that wear Tapout have never been punched in the face

Nothing against Kid Rock, but once you have chromed everything and bought a t-shirt from every HD dealer with a city for a name all that is left is to buy a sell-out musicians name on some new merch. I roadied for KR with Aerosmith and Run DMC for a summer. Bob is actually a nice guy when he isn't blasted.

Sorry to name drop OldRoadie, but it seemed fitting.

No prob, you're right on the money. He's a nice enough guy and quite the music historian; we've had him on stage a couple of time as a guest. It's become quite fashionable these days to lease a celeb's name to enhance your brand; I'm not so sure how successful it always is.
