A couple of weeks ago my local gun shop had a waiting list of about 70 people for ARs. Since the election and Newtown, they sold out of every long gun over .22 caliber with a removable magazine.
You'd be lucky to find an AR anywhere in America. You'd be happy to pay $1,000 for it.

The better name brands of AR s (not new, used) are averaging $1000-1500 around Washington State in the classifieds.

I checked today and the one I was thinking of was $500 but once the ban talk started it shot up to $1100. My store is the same get a couple here and there and sell them as soon as we get them. We even sell the 22 version quite a bit.

I'm glad I don't live in NYS. Pity the laws suck & the taxes are so high. It's pretty nice otherwise.

Ya secretly I hope Remington gets sold and a new buyer wants to move us. I was brought up here but NY is making hard to want to stay here. I would be sad to see the factory leave the area it was founded in but some of us younger employees could have a great new beginning.

I hear that South Carolina has made you an offer.
It's funny to watch politicians scramble when they figure out that jobs in their home districts will be affected by their new "feel good" laws.

The Full Metal Jacket Fairy brought me 1k rounds of .357 mag yesterday. That'll keep my Henry Big Boy (no plastic there) in plinking ammo for a few weeks.

I am inherently suspicious of a place where people put peanuts in their Pepsi, and mustard in their barbeque sauce.

Hugh Hefner was famous for Pepsi and peanuts, basically how most peanuts are eaten, with sugar or salt or both. Mustard in one form or another is in most BBQ sauces, read the labels, well at least the labels of smaller brands, most large national brands don't list everything.
On topic, the shortage of available guns for sale seems to have turned a police gun buy back event in Seattle into a gun show.

I have a .22 caliber squirrel assault rifle that shoots a mean pellet. Even comes with a 4x20 scope so I can get my full Lee Harvey Oswald out the back window

I had a local gunsmith recommend Del-Ton http://www.del-ton.com/Their prices (if still accurate) are 2/3 of Remington. I was told that the quality is there. Anybody have any experience with the brand? The problem is that their nearest dealer to me is over 120 miles away. And of course the dealer has nothing in stock. I emailed Del-Ton hoping to take a road trip to their HQ in NC and check them out in person, then order something I like through the dealer. No dice. They referred me to their distributors which are nowhere nearby.

I never did get the peanuts thing, but there's a BBQ joint on almost every corner. One of my regular stops is Maurice's. http://www.piggiepark.com/
He got into a little dispute regarding flying the Confederate flag outside his restaurants several years ago and a lot of retailers stopped carrying his sauce. It had an interesting taste - had apple cider in it.
Bessinger's Barbeque is run by his brother. Same recipe, just a difference of opinion regarding the Southern Heritage Museum thing (or so the story goes).
Me, I just like BBQ!

So Dave, have ya ever taken down two squirrels at once with a "magic pellet"???
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Yankee spinner squirrel proof bird feeder We have one and the squirrels have just given up. They tried for a long time but these things are perfect, and entertaining.

AR is a great platform. I have two in different configurations, what a blast to shoot. However, I am really lusting after a Springfield Armory M1 Scout with a Vltor Modstock.
'06 TBA - Black, AI and Snorkel removed, K&N Drop In, Gutted Stock Pipes, 145/42, 2 turns out.

Do they spin the other way when hit like the old arcade games?

From this side of the pond, all this talk about the fire power that's available to you guys from over the counter is still mind blowing. I had a Johnny Seven as a kid, does that count???
I'd rather ride it than clean it!!!!
