Hey guys, my 04 speedy started misfiring on the left cylinder. First it would only fire properly above a couple thousand rpm, and now it only fires every once in a while, and when it does it's usually a misfire. I checked the right cylinder and it seems to have weak spark too. I also cleaned out and examined the carbs this mourning to rule out clogged jets or air leaks.

So what do guys think? I'm leaning toward a faulty ICU or maybe the coils going south.

Ignition coil would be the first thing to check. switch them to see if the right starts doing it. If the left keeps it up, well, the once in a while backfire is when it loads up with gas. If you have done nothing else to the bike CDI may be the cause. I went through it on my 05. Same thing, left cylinder went to sleep once in a while then just was gone.

At least you can get them cheaper than 600 bucks! when mine went down.

Where would I find one for less than $600? I found some aftermarket ones, but I don't know if they work for our 270* motors.
