Date: June 20-23 2013
Location: Westby, WI
Rally central: Logan Mill Lodge

I secured entire lodge again for the nights of June 20, 21, 22. Price is $450 per night. I figure we'll split it up per person like last year as that seems to be the easiest way to do it. I want to get a list of people who are staying at the lodge, then we'll figure out the price per person and I'll start collecting money.

I'll get with the ride planning committee (Micah, Barry) and see what we can come up with. If anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears.

Is it June yet?

Hmmm....at this point I am truely uncertain if I will be able to make it. What with my Great SW ride still in the planning stages for mid May(9 days PTO, 16 total days riding) to see my Dad (in CA) for his 80th BD & meet the BA mems @ the SWTF.....my arse may not be ready for the ride to WI.

I still have 6/20-23 on my calendar & the PTO available too...but also have planned on making this years Father days float trip the weekend before too (my friends missed me cooking breakfast last year)...it's really gonna boil done to work related stuff & what I need to get done by the month's end.

Put me down as attending...& I'll keep you posted..

I'm 100% in.

Most likely no +1, because I'm a loser and being single is to much fun and easy!

Seriously doubt I'll be doing any rally's anytime soon. Wife is still sore about my doing the last one. (Long story I'm not gonna bother to relate on here. Bottom line, I did the best I could to make it up to her, didn't do any good. (Yeah, I know, I'm whipped.) (Nuts).

I would like to throw a couple ideas out there, see what the interest level is.

cave of the mounds, last year a couple of the guys got separated from the group (lost?) and ened up at the cave of the mounds they said it was worth seeing. never been there myself. It is maybe 100 miles from Westby, an interesting route could be found.

ride down the river to Potosi for lunch at brewery/museum. It could be made a 3 state, both sides of the river trip.

the cave of the mounds and the Potosi brewery could be combined into 1 ride. 260 miles total but it would be a whole day.

the great river road north, we went as far as Wabasha last year. The divided highway ends at Wabasha and is more interesting as you go north, the ride would basically be around lake Pepin.
and the WI side is high up and has some scenic turnouts. Lots of rider friendly towns and of course Pepin (for you LIW fans in the group)

Well, after all has been said & done it looks like work demands have ruled out any possibility of me attending this year. I have been assigned a new whse to admin material controls in.

Cave of the mounds was a nice place to visit, especially as a good escape from the heat.

I like the cave of the mounds/potosi idea.
I wasn't thinking about Potosi, but I was thinking about doing a brewery tour. The Leinenkugel brewery is in Chippewa, and they have free tours, I'm not sure if that's too far away...Also was thinking about New Glarus, I'm sure there's a lot of good roads between there and Westby.

proposed route for saturday approx 275 miles, 2 breweries and some caves. I know its a long ways but most of these roads are pretty leisurely. any thought or suggestions?

Cave of Mounds, New Glarus, and Potosi ride
Westby to Cave of the Mounds - 83 miles
From Westby south/east on hwy 14 to Spring Green, stay on 14 and cross the Wisconsin River, then take CR ‘K’ south to KK/F to Ryan road and into the Blue Mound state park.
From Blue Mounds to New Glarus – 25 miles
Exit the park on Mounds road south to CR ‘ID’ to hwy 78 south, then left onto Barton road to east on Sand Rock road/Malone road to SR 92 to SR 69 south thru New Glarus and up the hill to the brewery (that will be the giant castle like building with beer inside)
New Glarus to Potosi – 85 miles
From New Glarus south on SR 69 towards Monroe to SR 11 west thru Hazel Green, take a brief jog onto US 151 east, then exit hwy 61 to Dickeyville then down to Potosi, visit brewpub and National Breweriana museum.
Potosi to Westby – 75 miles
Back to hwy 61, go north to Westby

I like it Micah. It's a little long, but we have the option of skipping Potosi if we decide it's too long, we're too hungover, it's too late, bad weather, whatever. Like you said, the roads are pretty leisurely, so it should be fine. We'll play it by ear. I made up a map on google for the ride, the only thing I changed was a little chunk of 11, I have us going through Cuba City on H/Hh, cutting out the portion of 151 altogether. Mileage 268, 5 hours 48 mins total.

Plus..... If people aren't too tuckered out from the day rides, I will be more than willing to lead people on some scenic short scoots (1 hour or so..) in the evenings. There's some nice stuff to see when you get off the main roads.

If it stays at 12 people, we're looking at 112.50 per person for the weekend, which may still be cheaper than what a hotel would cost. I'm hoping more people decide to come, and that will bring the cost down some. Dunnspeed? Roadworthy? Hacksaw? FastEddy? Elfwolf? Yota? mikemm03? Where are you guys? Don't make me come hunt you down!

I'm not sure either. I was laid off guys so I will be unemployed starting June 1st. I'm hoping I find a job before that. If so, I'll go. If not, well that sucks.

I haven't posted about it but it's just insane. I've been there 10 years, I went to school there (so did my dad and my 2 brothers), I was teacher of the year last year, and they say, "Our hands are tied." What a bunch of b.s. Teaching jobs are a bit slim around here lately but I'm hoping more open up as the end of the year comes closer.

I'll keep you all informed...

Got this today from Ruth:

Hi Scott. I am sending out electronic invoices for everyone who has a reservation in June today. You sure picked a popular weekend! I have turned away 5 other groups who wanted to rent the lodge the weekend you are bringing your group. Good thing you picked your weekend early!

Watch for an email from Paypal and follow instructions for how to pay your rent by credit card. If you prefer to send a check then print the invoice and send to Logan Mill Lodge, 108 East 2nd street , Westby , WI 54667 . Make check payable to Ocooch Mountain Acres, LLC (our property management company) with note that it is for Lodge Rent.

THANKS. Ruth and Ken Rupp, info@LoganMillLodge.com or cell phone 608-606-2866 for text and voice messages

The total for the weekend (3 nights) is $1425.00

For 14 of us it comes to just under $102 per person for the whole weekend. Not as cheap as I was hoping, but probably still cheaper than a hotel. I'm going to pay the invoice in a few days. I'm NOT going to start collecting money just yet, as I'm hoping that others still want to jump in.

Boy that sucks Chris. I'm sorry. Is it the bad economy hitting your school hard? Hopefully they will give you some kind of severance (at least enough to get you through the summer)and you can get another job quick.
