This is stephen...for one thing this Isnt "some guy" its my professor, n he really doesnt care if I buy it or not, he just wants to break even on it, unlike a couple other guitars hes selling. I also see that the $100 case wasnt mentioned n a free amp, since he has so many laying round he doesnt know wat to do with...and idk if id ever go to a pawn shop to sell anything, such a big rip off...they're all about profit, id rather sell something to someone that actually cares bout buying w.e it is im trying to sell. Also i dont see anything wrong with starting out on any guitar, it's not like a bike, where if u make a mistake or wreck theres a big chance to get hurt or ruin the w.e it is ur practicing on.

Hey, you sound a little defensive. No need to be . Your dad asked for opinions and based on the information he provided us, we gave what we know. Had the case and the amp been mentioned, it would have been "value added" to the deal. Also what I said about "used is used still aplies, professor or street bum. Unless you have a RARE guitar, You will always sell at a loss.

So why dont we start this over, we know the type of guitar, what kind /size of amp, any leads thrown in? With this information we can give you more to go on.

I must also ask you, as a struggling guitarist (IE: And I mean struggling to play well) for 20+ years, Why do you want to play? Is it because the music is in you and you want it to come out, or is it a cool factor? The reason to learn is up to you, no right or wrong reply. Just one to ask youself. Its not easy for everyone. Personally I say I suck but I have not given up after all this time.
If you have a hard time taking advice from people or dont like constructive critism, You may find yoursel on your own.

I hope you understand that we all mean well, we have been fourm buddies with your father for a long time and do not wish to offend him or you. You will also find that we wont blow smoke up your backside either. This forum is family weather we have met face to face or not, and sometimes you need to have a bit of a thick skin. At the end of the day we all are here (and on the chordie site its the same way)to enjoy each others ideas and stories and maybe lend some good advice now and again.
