I have an 08 America (25K miles) and a 09 Tiger that I have 19K miles on. I Got the Tiger thinking it would be better for longer rides. But I am still tired at the end of the day. Not much difference from the America. The Tiger is quick...I have 4K RPMs that I dont use on the Tiger and are for sale if we can figure how to ship them.
The Tiger is taller and I had to have the seat shaved a little on the front so I could flat foot it. That is no biggie but buffeting is something I am still working on. There are options on other sites.
I am keeping them both.
By the way, on the Tiger when you pull out of the rest stop in say 2nd gear and go whoop, whooop, WHOOOOOOOP you will be going precicely 119 MPH according to the Garmin. That is the only place I use it.
I am 68, I enjoy my Tiger also

So Triumph ironed out all those speeding ticket issues?

My '07 looks great in the garage. I wish that it were in the garage less..... A 1,000 mile day is not out of the question on this bike, even for a broken down old man like myself.

no there still working on that issue! I refer to better lights, upgraded suspension and the claimed smoothing of the gearbox. Those 3 are the top complaints over at Tiger1050 forum. My tiger is fine in all 3 of those depts but my suspension is ohlins.

I've had mine a little over 2 years now, its a keeper. The power is addictive and comes easily. When I picked it up, was a little bothered by the wind, looked down, I was doing 106. I commute to work on it, road trips, everything. The stock headlights suck, and people complain about wind buffetting, but there are fixes for those things. Also, I like the BA forum more than the Tiger one...

Love it. Yeah, I have had a few of those moments in which the buffeting caused a quick look see at the speedometer. Hit the ton you say?????

Uh oh. Just came from the Triumph website. Has the 1050 Tiger been dropped from the line for 2013?

No more road oriented then the old tiger or even the steamer before that. I have had my 07 off pVed roads many times and it does about as well as you can expect from 100 plus hp with road tires.

Looking at an 800 but just not sure about the ergonomics especially after riding the Speedmaster with foot pads and a knee angle of 110 to 130 degrees. All adventure bikes are less then 90 other then the grand daddy the BMW R1200 GS some more some less. ( here is a good site if you want to compare www.cycle-ergo.com ) Plans are to buy a Sprinter camper with trailer and do a round N.A. Trip In two years and I think this style of ride would be more practical and fun. Ergonomics for the passenger is another question I moved rear pegs on Speedie with New Bonnevile relocators for more comfort for wife. Any thoughts on knee fatigue?

My bad. The picture is right here in this thread. duh. I don't think it had been added to the Triumph site yet or something. When I was looking it only showed the Tiger 800s and the 1200 Explorer.

I love the thought of the new Tiger Sport, but, at the same time, the Explorer keeps gnawing at me... The 800 is probably the bike I need. The Trophy SE being the bike I want... Heaven help me when the time comes.... I realize for sure now the 10 mph speedo error on our Americas and Speedmasters....I always assumed I was going 70 when it said 80, and 80 at 90, but the Zumo confirms it to be true. That said, and as many miles as I have ridden over 80 (anyway you want to take it), a faster, more powerful road bike does have some appeal.

By comparison, the ba or sm to the tiger is like the tiger to a hayabusa. Goin 120 on the tiger is easy as pie and happens right quick.Cruising at 80 on it is a yawn.

my next bike will be a tiger, either a 1050 or 1200, not sure. The dealer back home has a new 2012 1050 on the floor which would garner some nice discounts, but the 2013 1200 Explorer is sick looking anmd packs a bit more ponies...decisions decisions
