Becky, I'm planning to camp overnight at the Big Ditch as the starting point for my return ride back to KC,MO. I haven't got my camp reservation in yet....but it looks like the Mather Campground (I believe near the S. Entrance) would be the best one for me to throw my tent up at. (sic: easy access, doesn't add bunches of miles to my ride back east, access to Canyon Villiage amenities & such) Do You have any other "primitive" campground suggestions @ the Grand Canyon???

I have not camped in the park, so I really don't have any good suggestions. The info on the NPS Grand Canyon Website seems pretty good about camping in the area. I would suggest that for those dates you need to make reservations early - as these places fill up in the summer.
Also, if we do the park trip like I think, you can ride with us, and then end at your camp site when we head back to Sedona, and won't have much backtracking that day.
