My Mom's favorite things in the whole world is knowing that I am drinking bourbon and riding motorcycles. Not necessarily in that order.

Allrighty then.... lets get this thing rolling. Been pondering a long(ish) ride for this year so I figure Fridays ride will be on my all time fave highways, 19,60,68 and since the Skyway is kinda out of commision, I guess we'll just crossover Deals Gap. We'll head up 19 and eat at the at this place then on to Tellico Plains then back home on 68/60. Oughtta be fun.. lots o'twisties a map for those who may interested.. Still working on Saturday...

Nice ride! Did I add the sections up correctly? Twelve hours plus under perfect conditions, not countin' stops to meet, gas, food, etc. What ya figure, fourteen hours?, Dahlonega-to-Dahlonega. Kickstands up @ 8:00? Back @ 10? We're comin' from Hayesville, so I'll add two hours on the front end, and half hour on the tail end to get to the Motel in Dawsonville. Guess I'll pencil in 6 AM-midnight. Same thing for Saturday? Gotta-go! Gotta find those damn Clip-ons"!

I've never been able to construct a blue marker map;always green. Green marker maps show mileage and time estimates. Going green (omg) shows about 250 miles. time estimate being 6 hours. Yes, this ride will be not for the faint of saddle.

That kinda looks like a map of Italy if you removed half of the foot and kick out Sicily. I better get that burger with mozzarella.

What's happening... Heck Yeah! This year we're going to put the flags back up... Hi efferbuddy.. Looking forward to the rally this year.. got a few ideas.. got some wheels in motion and things are starting to come together. So far.... Got a pm from FastEddy and he tells me he wants to buy dinner for everyone one evening so since Friday night has always been pizza night, we figured that would be a great time to do it. So dinner and dancing in the polebarn for Friday night.. well dinner anyway, and maybe you can convince Eddy to pick a tune or two on a guitar. As far as the ride(s) for Friday, I'm still trying to figure out how to include Richard Russell,Wolf Pen (I always think of Ryan) ,17/75 and 197 in the same ride. I'm working on it as we speak, in fact I was out and about just this morning checking out the possibilities .. the things I do for you guys.. Saturday we'll do the Dragon.. y'all know that I usually don't like to do the Dragon as there are usually too many Squids and way too much testosterone up in those twisties for me but I'm going to make an exception in this case cause hey, you never know who might show up. Good food there too. Up 19/129 accross Blood Mountain and on to Blairsville and Murphy NC.. fuel up in Robbinsville and on to the Dragon. Get some food and take a bit of a break then across the mountain to come back home on my personal fav.. 68/60. Fuel up in Tellico Plains and then it's back to Georgia. As my old buddy Larry would say "sounds like a plan!" For you early arrivals, I'm planning something for Thursday.. possibly a Richard Russell and Wolf pen (Hi Ryan!) kinda thing. Also dinner at El Jimador that night for those interested. Well, that's the plan. Hope to see a bunch of y'all this year.. I miss the days of seeing how many bikes will fit in the pole barn and watching the videos of the parade of bikes rolling by. Sitting in the pole barn talking till 2 am knowing you have an early roll out the next day or watching a group of guys doing maintenace/mods on someones machine as others walk around checking out the rest. See y'all in May!

If I'm coming, it's going to be real early in the week, as I must be back in Texas for our New Ulm Rally no later than Friday.
This is two years in a row the two rally's have fallen on the same weekend, and more and more I'm thinkin' my loyalties don't necessarily lie with the vintage camp. I'm club Secretary now, and some there believe I may be Pres. one day, but I really have NO DESIRE, and NO INTEREST in such.
I would much rather be going to Dahlonega, or Prescott.....

Have your wife call in sick to the TX. rally, for you. Or you could do it while your in Ga., Keith. I'm sure Charlie and Yota could help get you real "sick". They're professionals.

My leave has been approved for May 9-12. Will be arriving at the campground at around 1000-1100 on May 9th and setting up camp.
So far the list below are the campers. There are a total of 12 spaces available. I usually cover one whole spot for the camp set-up which is 4 spots but can still hold campers. Plus my wife and kids will come up and hang out anyway. Remember to let me know if you have any preference for beer and such. Standard camp stock includes Yuengling and Evan Williams. I will provide the wood, lots of food and some other nice things. Let me know if anyone else plans on arriving or not arriving.
So far here it is:
Me Mike M Mike C Matt Myke N Keith Pete (possible)
Address is: 437 Rider Mill Rd Dahlonega, GA 30533 Spots 11, 12 and 13

Ah yes, days of yesteryear. As a matter of fact the gentlemen riding that bike rode it back to the Rally that day and still rides it today. Greg, you want to go into more details ?

Ah yes... I remember it well. Another victim of hwy 60north. It's all good, he walked away virtually unscathed, the other rider wasn't quite as lucky but he walked away just the same. Several of us pitched in and we had the bike straightened out, cleaned up and ready to roll by the next morning. A few character marks but it fared pretty well though it is rumored that to this day it will leak Georgia red clay from the headlamp bucket every time it rains...

And engine oil, but that is re-purposed as chain lube.
