The way I see it, the president won the election by both the majority and electoral votes, so he is correct in saying the majority of the US backs his plan. I'm sure all the millionaires on this forum will talk about how it's bad for their tax rates to go up... It sure is looking bad for all parties involved that they have to try and prove who has the biggest dick, I wish we could sh¡tcan the lot of them
On the other hand, every member of the House of Representatives was also elected by majority vote in November so it would seem they ALSO have a mandate. And since we're already borrowing 43 cents of every dollar the Federal government spends AND a 100% tax on everyone making over $100K would still leave us in the hole, perhaps we might consider NOT massively increasing spending like the electoral college winner wants us to do. We have already run out of money, perhaps it's time to cut up the credit card before we put yet another generation, as yet unborn, into perpetual debt.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.
