With your report of oil flying everywhere even after you drained it first, now I know why my bike only takes 3.5 qts during an oil change.
So I take it the valves didn't have the dreaded carbon buildup? I guess if they were as ugly as the couple of bikes I posted links to a couple of weeks ago, then you would've mentioned it. But just for the record, could you comment on how your intake side looked like when tearing it down?
