With the world ending in just 10 days, I think I'll max out my credit card. The next post I make just might be from some exotic, sunny location such as Frank's place down under. A friend of mine is down at the Mayan Ruins as we speak and plans to be there on Dec 21. I'd be curious to know if anyone here has special plans of their own for the occasion.

I'll be in Thames, New Zealand - but just visiting my parents - nothing to do with the Mayan calendar. They (the Mayan's - and my parents for that matter) couldn't predict their own demise, pretty sure they can't predict ours hundred's of years later.

But I've been wrong before.

Cheers, Richard

I've lived through a few end of the world predictions....
I predict I will live through this one too.

We didn't have internet at the time, so it didn't get all intense like this one.

I like the review that ends stating the reason he didn't give it five stars was because he felt the $5 shipping was too high just to send pen. The "buyer's reviews" were priceless!

I wake up every day thinking that this might be the last day of my life.

That's what running 5000 calls as a paramedic will do FOR you.

Believe me. It's a gift. I'm very thankful.

Well I really just HATE to rain on the parade and the wild orgies of unfettered lasciviousness, but it appears that LEAP YEAR was not a Mayan thing and so then every four years that calendar lost one day of accuracy. Over the course of the millinia* it appears that the end has....................already come.

* oh, I misspelted millennia but I edited it here for illustrative purposes but I really think we need to bring the ASTERISK back.

I gotta being that the Mayans, as supremely advanced as they obviously were, would have accounted for every possible variable.

As much as i am a "non beleiver" in such things those Mayans were pretty bloody clever given the time of their rein and their basic understandings of things.

There is a public "End of the World" party scheduled in a nearby town. I'm told all the posters for the event are going missing. I knew it was a conspiracy... they don't want us to know!

Dandelion roots make a fantastic coffee. Roast them in the oven and brew them up. Its full of antioxidants and tastes great.

Can't see drinking that before it ends but rather something more akin to a celebration. Yup, I think I'll raise a glass or two to the good life it's been although it doesn't look like I'll be doing that with our Aussie friend, Frank after all. Decided to stay home for the event (lucky you, Frank!).
