does anyone know if a finisher plate is available for the 2012 America? I stripped it down, adding solo seat and removed the rear pegs. I noticed that newspeedmaster had finishers for the older models but they won't fit the 2012. Any idea? I would like to cover the old muffler brackets and the holes from the passenger pegs.

Well if nobody makes 'em it's an easy fab. Just draw out your own design and get some 1/4 aluminum, 3/16 steel or stainless and get it CNC'd and powdercoat, chrome or sand and polish yourself.
That's what I'm doing on a Speedie.

It's all a matter of personal taste, but I think the finishers draw attention that something is missing and a distraction. I took off my rear pegs, fake tool boxes and pillion the first hour I own my 2003. I just replaced the bolts holding the tool box on, no one ever noticed something was missing and nothing screws with the lines of the bike.

Yeah, I agree, the finishers out there just attract attention to a "dead spot". That upper bracket can be ground off and the bottom one can be made functional with a wide washer of sorts.
But then if ya grind off the bracket ya can't go back.

Yeah, well, word is if you'd do that to your black BA or Speedy especially, you'd never want to "go back" anyway...or "word is" SOMETHIN' like that anyway I hear!
(...btw, yep, I agree with you guys)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

The word in the sororities at college was "If you go Mac, you'll always ask him back" and "Mac the other white meat". I was, and it relates to this thread, known as the "Finisher".
Oh, I got side tracked, I wouldn't cut the tabs off.

I left the bracket there, then added a concho to each side similar to the one below. I looks like it belongs there.

groovy Keith! Yet the whole idea of removing the rear peg hangers falls on deaf ears for me. Why give up alternative foot rest positions?

I didn't eliminate the rear pegs... they're now mounted where the pipe hanger bolts on. If anything they're closer to the rider as an alternative foot rest position (although I never found it comfortable enough to use).

I've thought about removing the pipe hanger brackets as I don't see myself ever going back to the factory pipes. I just hate to start grinding on a 2012 bike. When on long trips I have used the rear pegs for a change of foot position at times. I can't say the empty bracket hole or even the hanger stud is too obvious.
Last week I had to pick up a part at the H-D shop and a future bike owner asked me if my America was a Soft-tail Deluxe or a Street Bob! I explained that Soft Tails don't have visible rear shocks and he laughed and said "oh yea so it is a Street Bob"? I gotta laugh out of that.
This Triumph thing is getting expensive but after owning this for 9 months I can see the appeal. There's just something about them. Riding a mid sized bike is just plain fun again. I was at the closest dealer last week and rode a few of the other models. He said he would have in the Trophy in the next few weeks.

I bought a pair of Stainless industrial grade eyebolts to mount in that empty set of threads from Mcmaster Carr. They buff out as pretty as you have time to polish and they make great bungee tie downs for longer rides or anchoring points for securing your bike, IMO, you never can have enough of those. I also have a eyebolt that winds into the rear tank mounting hole and have picked the bike one wheel off the floor with my hoist,, sadly, no, that is not a perfect balance point, but it's manageable to do without a second person. I have never needed to lift it up that far and I wouldn't load it on anything with just one pick point, as I have a fine collection of nylon straps. But I want to relate that it works great for a lot of general maintenance chores, bike on the lift, the eyebolt pulled tight on the hoist and the front tire clamp wound in and your secure. Really makes for a quick job for an frt/bk wheel alignment check, seemed like every time I got the bike plumb, I would lose the steering where I locked it down, I would move it a minuscule amount and I would lose plumb again. Now it's bike on the stand, front tire clamped, pick up on the hoist, and float the rear tire where she needs to go, come down 'til the back tire lands and she's plumb and staying there, stretch your string, compare the offsets. I like to do five readings and average the results. My '05 is out .065 to the port side and my '06 is less than .014 (perfect) to port as well. A (.065) 1/16th of an inch, I'm not going to fret, but I will check it again after the next tire change out and if it reads the same, I'll slide me in .032 worth of shim, just because I'm wired that way.

Can anyone advise the bolt size for the passenger peg? looking to try some different industrial looks as finishers. Anyone have any unique replacements they can post photos of?
You buy the ticket, you're gonna see the show.

Yeah, I really don't know about those finishers. However, whats worse to me is having nothing there. Then you see a lot of the ugly square swingarm. IMO anyways.

I hear ya, Zach on that ugly swing arm. I beautified mine with chrome stripes to give it some class. And those hanger tabs? I mounted conchos similar to these.
