Ironically, I just saw on the news tonight that U.S. highway deaths this year are the lowest since the year 1948.
And so while yes, MAYBE the populace has gotten "soft" in the last few decades, AT LEAST automobile technology, and maybe those "Do-Gooders" like M.A.D.D., and MAYBE certain OTHER aspects of present day modern life have allowed many MORE present day "softies" to survive vehicular crashes and/or MAYBE has prevented many of them.
(...and I assume you guys DO know that there are a HELL of A LOT more cars on the road nowadays than there was back in 1948, RIGHT???!!!)
