On my way home I was rolling between 80 and 95 mph. Weaving heavy Houston traffic, lane filtering, and generally riding rather recklessly, I tore through town then the old road home only to low side it into my driveway. The bike laid down and flipped me across the concrete. If my wifes truck had been parked were it normally is I would be up side down doing a head stand on the slab with my back on its grill.
However I managed a full flip to land on my back and roll up to a seated position. Appearantly the plastic air vents on the top of the helmet only slightly scraped the ground as I went flying through the air. So on the top of the air exhaust vent plastic of my helmet has a bit of a nick in it. As for the bike the only damage appears to be a bent shifter lever and some scratches on the mirror, and hand controls.

Could be worse.

You COULD have rode right off the dock after losing your hard bag! (AND, HAVE IT ALL OVER THE WEB!)

helmets are just for added protection, the don't make you invincible!!

at least you didn't hurt yourself

Always remember to be yourself. Unless you suck. Then pretend to be someone else.

I bet he walked in the door with his tail between his legs.

(We're NOT laughing AT you Chad, we're laughing WITH you!)
Thank Heaven!

Yea I had to laugh after a damage report. If ya cant laugh at that ya too damn serious. No harm no foul right. Plus just imagining a six foot three inch, two hundred and seventy pound man flipping over the concrete drive ..........the image has to be hilarious. I wish I did have video. It probably didnt look as fantastic as it seemed. I keep thinking of that movie Hot Rod, where the dude crashes up that moped.
If the neighbors saw it they probably laughed. If I saw another person do it I would laugh.

Crap Chad, glad you are ok, you know what they say most accidents happen within a mile or so from home.... sounds like it could have been worse. Feet up beer in hand and chill.

Glad your air okay. And the helmet.

And the bike.

When people want to say these things are dangerous, in their minds, it's the out on the road aspects that they think of.

Though true they are, it is the silly stuff we do on the front yard, driveway, or even in the garage that can get us in the most trouble. Low speed can be a dangerous place.

I'M just waitin' for Chad's wife to tell him somethin' like...

"Now SEE?! THIS is why we can't have NICE THINGS!"

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)
