I've been away from the site for a while. Logged on and found out about John. It wouldn't let me post in the thread so I made my own. I remember when I first noticed John, he blasted me in a post and I thought what an ******! But the more we interacted I grew to really like him and loved to watch him wield his hammer against other people. He will be missed for sure.

+1. A testament to him is the lives he touched which is significant by the number of posts on his thread. Blessings to his family.

This past Wednesday evening, thoughts of the good Friar coupled with
clair de lune playing elicited more than one tear.

That is such a fact of life around here. The R.I.P. threads can be tough to see each time I log on. I miss the guy dearly. Always will.

Yep Keith!!!!! I agree.

After reading this I went back and reread the whole original post and was moved again. I envy the fact that you and Marty actually got to spend time with him.... (thanks for the pics).

Life goes on...but it isn't quite the same without the Friar!

Almost every single time I type "bonnevilleamerica.com" into the address line on my laptop, I can see John's smirking face in my mind's eye and think of him sayin' somethin' like..."Okay, I wonder what lame joke the guy is gonna try and crack THIS time?!"

(...miss ya, my friend...a lot!)

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

True enough Jim and everyone else.

Due in large part to geographical happenstance, I was fortunate to spend a fair amount of time with the Friar over the past 9 years or so, road trips and such. I came to really appreciate how much he thought of this site and more than that community that is brought together. It was a big deal when the Friar was handed the keys. We spent a fair amount of time trying to figure out what to do with the Dwight canundrum.

BA.com is a special place for sure. I'm glad he finally got to attend the Georgia rally this past spring and meet a bunch of people.

In the present tense, I'm very thankful we have talented and wise folks like Moe and Chy as administrators and the rest of the ragtag moderator crew keeping an eye on this place. . If the technical side was up to me, we'd all be screwed. .
What is it about a simple parallel twin motorcycle with a British heritage anyway?
