It's incredible that the biggest storm since they've recorded such things hits the most densely populated area in the US and fewer than 100 lives were lost (so far). Simply amazing. Still tragic, but amazing.
Katrina was a fraction the size and coverage area and struck what was, for the most part, sparsely populated areas, aside from NOLA, and nearly 2000 died.
Even though the damage is far greater I'll bet the recovery goes far more quickly (truly, NOLA may never fully recover).
