Got this from Dave Preston at Lynwood Cycle Barn:
Quote:

RATs FOR WINTHROP!

As you may recall, we’ve taken over the former RAT Raid to Winthrop made it a Cycle Barn RAT Pack RAT Ride, under the leadership of Ted Heekin. The dates are Friday - Sunday, June 16th - 18th. Thus, you will need reservations for the 16th and 17th of June.

Headquarters this year will be at the RIO VISTA in scenic downtown Winthrop. Rooms with two beds are $100 a night. You can call the Rio Vista at 1 – 800 - 398 – 0911.

The gala banquet will be held Saturday evening in Twisp at the River Pub, home of the Methow Valley Brewing Company - at 8pm. Check them out at: http://www.methowbrewing.com

The registration fee will include the banquet, the t-shirt, the door prizes, and all of that, and will probably be $50. Send in your checks made out to Ted Heekin to:

Ted Heekin
9821 240th St SW
Edmonds, WA 98020

Questions – you can call Ted at (206) 542 – 3312 or e-mail him at triumphking04@hotmail.com

Make your reservations now, as the hotel will fill rapidly. For those who prefer, the KOA Campground is excellent and is just a block or two away. The KOA also has small cabins for those who want to "rough it but not really."

Act now and tell your Triumph friends! We are offering this to our own RAT Pack members first, but soon we will be reaching out to others – the PART group from Portland that has invited us to have lunch with them on April 30th, and the newly reforming pack out of the former Cycle Mart in Olympia, so act now – this event will surely sell out, and we do not even know what the capacity of the banquet hall is!

Wow.

I have spent most of my day wondering what kind of ride I can go on this summer once I get my motorcycle back around June 15th. I have been searching for a ride to go on....I even checked this forum a couple of days ago and saw very little PAC-NW action. I checked the net and couldn't really find any relatively nearby and rustic festivals or events happening right around that weekend, or(American)Independence day for that matter, another weekend I'd considered. So imagine my glee when I see this post !!!!

This is exactly along one of the two routes I thought about while planning today. The other was the Olympic Peninsula loop, but I can do that on any weekend from where I live. But to find the ride, the event, and the other Triumph riders......sweet.

Double thanks for the amazing timing !

Thanks Soren,

Winthrop is only ~300 miles, I'll give it some thought, part of my "Explore Washington Blue Roads" tour. Lebowski, you might also consider the Kootenay Raid in Nelson, BC July 21-23, that can't be too far from you either?

All these rides sound great and aren't really too far from me, as I live in Port Townsend. My available time off from work may be more of a limiting factor than distance, however. I just put in for the Friday off for the Winthrop ride, as well as July 3rd to make that a four day weekend. Any rides planned for that weekend, or do we just give up the roads to the RV'ers those days??

Like a bad hangover, the only way to recover is to ride more.
