Hmmmm...1972. I recall the motorcycle I had back then. And, if I recall correctly, the number one hit song of that year went somethin' like...

A long long time ago
I can still remember that Beezer
I used to own

And I knew if I had the chance
I would make that Rocket 3 dance
And I'd be happy for a while

I was always into British bikes
There was something about them that I liked
The rumble of their engines
The style of their flanks

I can't remember if I tried
To wheelie it while I'd ride
But something down there deep inside
Would make me smile really wide

(chorus)

Now I ride this Bonnie America bike
But spending way too much time on this little website
Fracturing lyrics so I make 'em about my ride
And I'll do this 'til the day that I die
Yep, most likely 'til the day that I die

(...with, of course, in THIS case my apologies to Mr. McLean)

In nineteen hundred seventy-THREE
Columbus sailed the deep blue sea.

I was going to say two of my favorite albums from 1972 were Pink Floyd "Dark Side of the Moon" and Golden Earring "Moontan", but it turns out they both came out in 73. For years I thought they were both released in 72......

We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

I had my Moto Morini Super America in 72.

This isn't the bike but very close, I think it may have been a rebadged Ducati with some cosmetic changes or vice versa.
The 2nd pic is the Moto Morini and is almost the bike I had, same colors and all.

What a year! I spent that year working at the beer store at Hickham Air Force base and ripping around Oahu on my first motorcycle, a Kawasaki H1 500cc two stroke rocket of a bike. Met a lot of guys coming home from Nam and chased a few wahines :-)

.....and if they could, they wouldn't type it on the WWW for public consumption, adulation or embarrassment

Of course this being a so-called geezer site, "they'd" probably get the facts all confused & mixed up.

Great Year, spent the first half in Garmisch hanging out with Americans both in and out of military service then the second was spent on a Montessa King Scorpion and going to school (skiing) in Grenoble. Like a fine wine that one will be fondly remembered.

I was already back from the Nam and out of the army (the first time) back then. Sharing an apartment in Hawthorne, CA with a battle buddy, getting stoned as much as possible, and trying to eek out a living and figure out what to do with the next phase of my life. My first job out of the service was sanding down shells at McCall Helmets, which was a Bell knockoff. For me, it was really kind of a lost year.
