Pic of the present I got from my wife on the 50th birthday. Replica kit car, 52 MG-TD chassis and drive train is from a 73 Beetle. Runs and drives great! May take a little time away from the Bird but not too much...

I LOVE that style of car. Sure, it's not the real thing and a purist is going to belittle it, but most everybody else is gonna admire and oggle it as you go down the road. Have fun!

http://www.tdreplica.com/You'll be joining another forum soon. I hope to have the driveshaft back in mine soon, parts are in hand but project time has been at a premium.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Thanks for the tip on the forum, hopefully it will be as useful as this place is... Need to track down a new top for it, It has one but it actually seems to have shrunk. It's a good inch and a half too short to fit.. Mine is a Duchess model replica from Classic Roadsters, what make is yours?

It's a British Coach Works unit built in a Chevette platform. The replacement drive shaft was a three month quest from sourcing to actually having in hand and then my free time evaporated. Your VW chassis lends itself to better parts availability. They sure are fun the wheel, though, aren't they?

Here was my 1982 project. Built on a 1967 Beetle. I gave it to my nephew last year.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Must Have been one happy nephew! Oldroadie: Yes, it is quite a hoot to drive, plus it's a lot like riding a Triumph. Expect to have folks wave at you and talk to strangers almost everytime you stop somewhere
