I listen to a little of everything and lately its been country for me. When I ride I was using headphones in under my helmet and it was very uncomfortable and pretty unsafe since I couldn't really hear anything going on around me. So I found this website that all about "biker music" as they say and you can go check out a bunch of different songs and they have a playlist that you can play while you search the website. The best thing I think they have on there is they show you how to install small headphone speakers in the pads of your helmet. We did this and not only is it a million times more comfortable but its safer as well cause I can still hear whats going on around me plus my great music.

I use an aviators helmet when I ride. It's an HGU-55p that was form fit to my head and built for me when I was an Army aviator. After getting out, I removed the aviation wiring and "re-wired" it with some studio quality headphones. I listen to music and my GPS and can still hear what is going on around me.

Personally and with all due respect, when I ride I listen to my ride... the nuances of the engine, the pipes, the tires, the frame, the wind, my surroundings. It's a Zen thing. Listening to music is whole other and separate experience from riding, unless it's a tune running through my head, or me singing out loud in ecstasy as I ride.

Well yeah, the frame as it flexes and moves through the shocks. Okay, I suppose when it comes to the frame the word "listen" is used loosely here. When I wrote that it was not so much a zen thing as it was a wine thing.

Meaning the frame is whining from all the stress, or wine as you bike is Burgundy in COLOR, or you've been drinking a little too much.

I like to listen to music on long rides. It actually helps me stay focused. On a day trip I may not listen to anything. I like the earbuds, but I'm deaf as can be, I don't think I would be able to hear the music if it wasn't directly in my ear canals. My pipes might have something to do with that.

Those who get it understand, Keith. Those who don't - well, they have thingies hangin' out their ears. I've tried it a time or two, but, my ridin' grin prevents the buds from stayin' put.

I've had my ipod with me on several occasions, never bothered to put in the earbuds while I ride. I'm more like Keith, I enjoy listening to my motorsickle sing it's own song

i put some speakers in my full face for longer rides, i keep them so the music is sort of background to everything else, i can only listen to the same thing for so long, ADD keeps me going back and forth from bike to music to bike to music.... :-) i like the tunes though.

Well, you can tell by the way I ride my bike, I'm a Triumph man, no time to hike. Music loud and engine warm, I've have wanderlust, Since I was born.
And now it's alright, it's okay. I'm still around here to say. We can try to understand, Cycle World's effect on man.
Whether you're a brother or whether you're a mother, You're stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Feel the city breakin' and everybody shakin', And we're stayin' alive, stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive. Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive, stayin' alive.

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Shoei RF1100, + Sena SMH10 headset unit. After 85K miles of motorcycle Zen, I finally have tunes when I ride. I don't know why I waited so long. I use a FiiO E6 amp with my IPod, and with earplugs in, at full volume and speeds over 80 mph, very decent sound quality and can still hear surroundings when in the urban jungle. And it's easy to turn the volume up or down if needed. It's impossible for it to be too loud, not that I wouldn't, but seriously, turned up all the way, no where near damaging to my ears - like it's a built in safety thing. If my phone's Bluetooth is on, I can take calls, but sound clarity is better at sub-60 mph speeds, and once, I even accidentally made a last number redial happen, but I don't know how I did it. The Sena is easy to use, and top shelf, if your looking for a headset intercom system. I just don't have anyone else that I ride with or need to communicate with helmet-to-helmet. But it's great for tunes!

Santa was very good to me this year, bringing a Garmin Zumo into the fold. I can upload all of my tunes onto the Zumo, so no more need for IPOD, other than keeping it around as the Fort Knox music vault. No more wires. The Sena is the bomb. The Zumo is so cool I feel like I'm cheating....

I tried the Ipod and earbuds, they kept falling out so I bought a Street Glide and installed a killer system with a huge amp, a Sony deck with a little tray that sucks the Ipod right inside the deck and uses the handlebar controls. Everything is waterproof marine grade including Polk speakers in the fairing the bag lids and subs to boot. Of course I ripped apart the 2 year old bike and changed out all the cookie cutter parts for total one off custom stuff and a killer paint job. I'll still ride my Speedy, my Thruxton, my Fat Boy, and my Chopper but maybe not as much. God I love music and I'm so glad to be able to take it with me when I ride.

I have lots of customers that have those mounted on their bike.
Myself I thought the sound of the wind, the hum of the tires on the road, and the roaring cadence of the motor is music.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

I agree, it is music, however I like to change the station eveynow and then. That's when I pop in some earbuds from my phone.
