That's odd what you say about government. I've been having to file stuff with the government for close to two decades and that's why we originally got rid of the Apples. None of the government agencies could interact with the Apple computers.

The schools used to use them quite a bit but that changed about 10 years ago for the same reason.

My opinion about Apple is that they are frequently the first but rarely the best. Keeping their source code secret is one of the big things has kept them a niche (5% market share) computer.

guy I work with got a BMW car a while back (Z3). after a while he descided that he had to have a BMW motorcycle as well. Why? because he is a now Beemer guy. He got a fully loaded 1200RT, GPS, ride control, ABS, very nice long distance bike, also all the gerbings gear to go with it. 4-5 years now. it has never been out on a cloudy day or been riden more than 100 miles in a day. But it is shown off to everyone who stops by his house.

In all fairness, he does drive the car.

Just bought this sweater:

http://www.luckybrand.com/Triumph-Sweater/LBM01475,default,pd.html

Never would have if I didn't own a Triumph, but lots of people do buy stuff like this with no real connection.

I don't wear logos unless I have some real affiliation to talk about. I get sports jerseys though.

As far as Apple goes, there are the people that understand and appreciate how it focuses on functionality and stability, and then there are the badge whores that just want the latest cool shiny object. Pretty much par for the course in anything imo - there are those that get it, and those that just buy it.

I do use the phone camera, accidentally, I've got great video of lint in my pocket.

I seem to remember someone else recently accidentally taking pictures in his pocket with his cell phone.

But that guy was a real Weiner

I'm talking about decades ago, a computer was very expensive. At the time my ex worked for the Ks. legislature as a research analysis, she made recomendations to go Apple type sysstems, it was heavily influenced by acedemics in the state. I don't think younger people fully appreciate the long term tech advancements and the economics in computers. When I first got out of school in the mid 70s, I production scheduled a huge food processing plant, that only shut down one shift a week 7/24, with a calculator, a pencil and a paper spreadsheet. I was always on call to make corrections. I imagine now that job has been replaced with a cheap PC.

Uh huh...yep. And thus why the old joke...

"Did you hear about the constipated mathematician? He worked the problem out with a pencil!"

....gets very few laughs anymore, huh Mac!!!

Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

I always find that whole 'stability' discussion amusing. My last computer crash was probably 8 years ago and it was my iBook (which crashed with some regularity).

I ride a Triumph but still wear my old Honda shirts. And it may sound strange, but I don't think I could ever wear any HD items. The last thing in the world for me would be to look like an HD wannabe. I also learned a long time ago that there are a lot more folks wearing motorcycle shirts or hats than who actually ride.

I don't wear any Harley shirts cause no body has given me one as yet. I hate buying cloths. You might say Im cheap. I have fingered the the cheap section at a few harley dealers, but they never have my size.
