Yep, this thread could change the action verb and still make sense:
You DRIVE a what?
You WEAR a what?
You EAT a what?
....
Marketing is a little (well not so little anymore!) invention so that the product that was conceived and made for a very few be sold to the general public as a "I-need-it" kinda thing.
Things that have made me tick over the years:
- North Face down jackets made for high altitude climbing worn in town when it never goes below 5C.
- LV purse all wrapped up in protective paper, and kept in the closet at all time because "I don't want to use something so expensive, it might get a scratch!" (I had to ask why it stayed in the closet, you see...)
- A 2006 Yamaha FJ1300 with 56km on the odometer... in 2011
- an iPhone (I cheat here as I have an older 3GS, but even that one, I don't use it to it's full capabilities)
- a 5-million-dollar home theater.... (other than just showing off to your so-called "friends")
- high heels, when walking on the beach (but it always makes me laugh!)
- people who diss my Hyundai (Matrix, don't think it's available in the Americas) and gloat about their 2013 CR-V / Explorer / that big Lexus, ... but mine has been doing it's duty to carry me around and to the beach every weekend with all gear for the last 8 years...
- seeing a person buying a new sub-10-lbs featherweight all-carbon bicycle worth over $5,000 when they are carrying a few extra pounds themselves (and no thighs nor calves to show for)
- people telling me : "the red jacket is warmer than the blue jacket, right? I know the blue is better for the rain." say again?....
Yep, I could go on....
