I have been looking into replacing the slip-ons on my 07 America. The lowest price I have found for something to give me a throatier sound without killing my wallet are Emgo 80-62620 (20") or the Emgo 80-62616 (16"). About $50 each.

Are they even worth spending the money on, or should I save for something better?

BCarnage has some that are similar from JC Whitney. I don't think they cost quite that much, I cant find them on their website right now, but it was a few years ago when he got them. Anyway, they sound good.

where are you getting $50 from? the site says $71 for the short ones edit: and $54 for the long ones. huh...

and which size did you get? i've been seriously mulling these over for quite some time, muyself. definitely need a review on the sound before i pull the trigger since i work nights these days.

I have the 19" I believe they were emgo, they were from JC Whitney as Soren mentioned. They have "baffles" but I would say they are just this side of straight pipes. You will have to rejet or remap. I have had them on over four years now. My neighbors know what time I get home at night. Fortunately, we are friendly with our neighbors.

I picked up a pair of the Emgo 19" like the photo above from Amazon.com for $48.53 each.

Emgo Turn-out Style Universal Muffler 80-62620

Will likely install them this weekend, even though it looks like it will snow/flurry here in Minneapolis. Thanks for the photo Brent. I guess after seeing them on your bike I wish I had gone for longer pipes, but I like the look on your Speedy.

I think that is about what I paid. I like the 19", I know some go with the even shorter ones. Ride with them and at least you are not out too much if you decide to change later on. Cheers! and welcome to the site.

It took about 30 minutes with a socket and allen wrench.

BEFORE

AFTER

The wife says it is very loud and asked me why. I couldn't stop cackling with an evil grin as I took it around the block in the dark in 39f weather.

May need to re-jet and I noticed a little more oomph too. I'll try and get an audio sample. I would say it is throatier, ballsier and a tad bit evil. I need to turn the exhaust down a little more on the right side (pictured) but I like it a lot.

Thanks for the advice all!

Cliff

There for a minute I thought you had the coolest wife ever and had your bike in the living room.

She is ok, but not letting me get the TBird Storm. That would make her Wife of the Year in our Family.

I put turn outs like that on Wendys bike. They sound good and she loves them. Funny when she cracks the throttle by a car with an alarm and sets it off.
