What effects does this have on the performance? I have a 2004 Speedmaster and have unplugged mine. The exhaust popping has nearly stopped. It does seem to take longer to warm up than it did before. Are there any long term effects, good or bad? If figure the TPS is there for a reason. Maybe just for emissions, I don't know.

Mines been disconnected for several years. No intention of hooking it back up. There are no long term effects to the engine.

I pulled the plug on the TPS years ago too. No detrimental effects at all.

I ran with mine disconnected for a couple years until I installed the Procom CDI. It's only hooked up now because I can tune it so there's no popping on decel and the unit works better with it.

on a stock (or mostly stock) motor with the stock ignition there is no real down side to pulling the TPS. I ran without mine for several years on the CVK carbs. I seem to recall that, with the TPS unplugged, the default is just to assume the throttle is full open, I take that to mean full ignition advance as well.

just don't take it off the carbs and leave it plugged in though that could muck things up. the TPS must be unplugged from the harness.

I just unplugged it from the harness. It is still attached to the carb.
