Good for you. Now take out that break in oil and fill it up with the good stuff. Resist the urge to buy the Triumph oil at the dealer, the Mobil One 15-50 is, was $50 a gallon. I have been using the Mobil One 15-50 from the parts store for $5 a quart. Seems to be working fine. I could not believe that our bikes take a gallon of oil to fill them up. TR

Well shoot, now you all are making me feel bad. I was planning on taking it to the dealership to get the oil change and checked over. I have an elusive leak somewhere underneath and I was hoping they could find it for me. But now you all got me thinking I should just change it myself. Anybody got any idea what might be leaking and dripping on the starter? The starter always has oil on the bottom of it.

I Don't know about oil leak. mine had a leak at the gear shift seal. Warrenty fixed it. that was years ago. TR69TR6 on that 15/50 mobile one. Is that a motorcycle oil.I had called Mobile and spoke to some tech couple of years ago. and was told mobile 15/50 racing was not designed for bikes wasn't good for the clutch. They then came out with 10/40 and 20/50 V-Twin for motorcycles and it works great. Just don't use a fram oil filter. Use a triumph or amsoil filter. Walley World( Wall-Mart) sells the oil for about 7 dollars a qt. I buy it at Auto Zone for 7.99 a qt. last time. I have over 34,000 on my bike and mobile has been Great ( knock on wood)
I was so much older then, I am younger than that now (Wrote By Dylan Sung by the BYRDS,)

Congrats Matt. It only gets better, but I would take it to the dealer at least the first time. I know it cost more, but that oil leak needs to be checked out while on warrenty. I did not have an oil leak, but needed the cush drive replaced. It was done at no cost. The first oil change cost about $150. I also changed the oil at 2000 miles myself. I used the Triumph oil, filter and washer. It cost about $80. I took my bike to the dealer for the 6000 mile change and that one cost about $240. This Sept. my warrenty runs out. From now on, I intend to order a oil change kit from Brent. It includes a good oil, filter, and washer at about $50. I am sneaking up on 10k miles now and my bike starts easier, shifting into first to start with no clunk, and she is faster. Dave

But in my defense, I have a 7 mo. old at home who has to get to the baby sitter (my turn every other day) and I don't think the popo would think too much about the car seat on the back.

The 15-50 Mobil One oil that I am using is not a cycle oil, but a synthetic at the local auto parts store. It is not in just any store, though I have a local store that stocks it. Do the oil change before you take the bike in for servicing. I use the dealers oil filter though. What is this amsoil filter that is being posted? TR
