I installed cocktail shakers and the FREAK last month. Love the power, but wanted to remove the side panels and show off the Pods and relocate the battery to open up the frame.

Let me know what you guys think of how it turned out.
I chopped up the battery box so I could leave the Ignition and fuse box in placed and mounted the battery box to the Freak mud guard. I only had to lengthen one wire so it was pretty simple.

Thanks Erle...I'd been wanting to move the battery and just started cutting and grinding yesterday...
I taught my 9y/o how to beadblast on that shift rod, she polished, then masked, and beadblast every other section.
kid got skills

You could always mount a Farkle on that tab, I seen one America where the guy had a L E D running light installed there. He was rolling, and I didn't get to see what he had done on the Port side.

Welcome to the club Brutha, looks good!
Leave the tabs, I used mine for a toggle switch when I was running heated grips, I'll soon use it for some other switch or sumpN.

I was curious to know what wire you had to lengthen. Negative battery wire? Ive never heard of anyone needing to do that to relocate the battery. Maybe its cause I turned the battery around backwards in the tray?

How's that freak bracket braced? Does it have any bracing on the sides or is it just an L shaped piece that you bolted to?

Wondered if it would sag in the future from the weight of the battery. Cant really see how its supported though.

Looks good, I'd probably move that negative wire "up and over" instead of "down and under".

Sorry for the delay...
Tabs are staying for now, but will probably cutem sooner or later.
As for the wire, it is the smaller of the 2 negative termainal wires.
The Freak Mud Guard is mounted to the 2 bolts that hold the rear fender in place, I then mounted the battery box to the brace. It's pretty darn stable, but time will tell!

Gonna chop the rear fender in Jan, stand by for pics...

Oh, any comments on my .50 cal choke knob???

Lose that big front sprocket guard and get one from a std bonny, removing the rear footrest hangars and screwing the footrests right in the slinecer mounts does another nice thing for the lines as well. Nice bike btw.

the right K&N may have been a bit crooked, theyve been on and off a few times since that photo.

Good diea on the pegs, and I do plan on customizing a sprocket cover. I just got a lathe with milling head, so, its time to have some fun!

Really nice job! I have done pretty much the same to mine (using the "ghetto freak" method, reproduction amal filters, and an additional bracket (I think from Tom, on the site) to relocate the battery, but looks identical to yours from anywhere over 5' away.

I noticed the 50 cal choke button right away, very nice touch.

If your daughter needs more metal working practice, feel free to knock out another twisted shifter rod... LOL!

One thing to consider, I removed my tabs (in typicall "let's cut S#!% off" style), then saw that someone else here was using the tab to store a wheel lock while riding. Not something I use, nor a function I miss, but to each their own...

The shift Linkage was made by Ryk, here on the site. My daughter just did the beadblasting. =)

Now that I have a lathe making the choke knobs should be hella easier...I should make some, huh?

Also, I use the tab to secure luggage and stuff, however I though about cutting one in toi the shape of a bottle opener

I'd like a .50 cal choke knob, hook it up!

Hey rgoldberg,

Gday from Perth, Australia. Your bike looks great.
I am about to do the same mod to my 06 Speedie.
Cocktail shakers and K&N pods. What Jets did you use?

I was planning to do the 50cal choke knob too but haven't figured out exactly how I am going to do it yet.
I also have some 20mm Phalanx CIWS shells from my Navy days that I am hoping to incorporate in the the bike somewhere.
Cheers
Troy

Hey Troy-

Factory Pilot Jet with a 160 main. This was a great set up at sea level but now at 3-5000 feet there is a ton of deceleration popping, but she runs great through out the RPM range.

The choke knob is 2 pieces. Gently pry off the choke knob cover and grind the inside diameter of your Brass to fit. After about 10Kmi my 50 cal know fell off in my hand so I used some Super Glue to keep her in place. When the brass is polished up it looks great!

Ryan, just a heads up. This isn't always the case but when you are running lean your bike will feel amazing, however you will be damaging the internals of the motor. Check your plugs.

Looks great. On mine I go back and forth with "seeing" the K&N filters, sometimes leaving off the cheese graters, sometimes putting 'em back on. I like both looks. The choke knob is awesome!
