Two pages of thread talking around politics. It would appear that there may be a hunger for subject matter other than oil
I try to aggravate one person a day. Today may be your day.

The fact of the matter is, I agree with Ian all the time, just not that often politically. At the end of the day, we all basically want the same things
So you NEVER lube your chain also?

My long time best friend (we once spent 5 months traveling the country coast to coast on a pair of 550's in our 20's) is a right wing wacko Harley rider so...there you go.
Yeah Chet?! Well, I COULD be wrong here, BUT I'll betcha your old buddy ALSO now dresses up like a freakin' PIRATE whenever he hops on that Harley o' his too, RIGHT?!
(...how'd I KNOW, ya ask?...just call it a "lucky guess", THAT'S all!!!)
Oh, the whole nine yards. His wife took up riding a few years ago (Sportster) and she also buy her clothes at Pirates of the Carib for Gals. They post pics from their Harley biker bar hangout...all that stuff. If I drank that early in the day I'd be asleep by sunset. The three of us go back nearly 40 years.
Funny thing is, their two daughters are very low key school teachers. Other than a family resemblance they might as well have been hatched from pods.
I haven't been able to bring myself to ask them if they have figured out their youngest is a lesbian. I'm afraid their ultraconservative heads might explode. They are pretty clear where they stand on human rights on that particular topic. I'm guessing that little piece of information will never come up.
My wife just left for work astride her black on black Bonnie in full black leathers except for red cowboy boots. Quite a sight. Must be a fashion statement, most days she wears dayglow garb.

Moe, I'm not offended, but there was no politics involved in those posts, mine or Smokey's, other than opponents should be tolerant and friendly on a personal level.

"If ever a time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in Government, our country will stand in need of its experienced patriots to prevent its ruin." Samuel Adams, 1776
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

Yeah, well then Tony, I'd say there'd probably be a WHOLE LOT of pints bein' consumed out there in THAT case!
'CAUSE since time immemorial, the "highest seats of Governments" HAVE pretty much been filled with "vain and aspiring men"!
(...'cause it sure HASN'T been the "shy, modest and retiring" types who've usually had the ambition to seek power, ya know!!!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Considering most of the negotiations conducted by our Founding Fathers took place in taverns, while hiding from the Brits, that's not a bad idea. Bottoms up!

For the life of me I can't remember what I posted that got deleted. Must have been pretty heinous, though.
