You know Jim, there was a time I used to love the political banter on here, which, because of its pretty much civilized and self-restrained nature was very much tolerated and accepted.

This trend was suddenly reversed (and the hammer of smiting became pretty much the norm) in about August of 2006 when a certain newby at the time came on and started spouting his jingoism and vitriol in all directions.
For a time, I personally felt I was in a kindergarten.

It would seem to me, that in latter times (also possibly since said member doesn't frequent this place any more) that FJ (and others) loosened up a bit and didn't react unless the "unwritten" apparently (or should I say possibly) extended boundaries of decorum were exceeded.

Given your own comments and positive approach, I am happy to see that despite the few threads/posts of a political nature currently running, there are no hammers flying.
