as a b-day gift for the mrs. I got her this. It is a 2012 speedmaster demo bike already fitted with scepter pipes. 44 miles on the clock. In an effort to fit her shortness I will be lowering it and moving the controls back about 2 inches. The seat will also get a rework to shave some height.
05 speedmaster - 1100cc, 11:1 racing pistons, Carillo rods, thunderbike cams, ported and polished head, 2mm over intake and exhaust valves, Barnett kevlar clutch, scepter pipes, oversize manifolds, 45mm HSR's, TTP stage 4 firestarter

Very nice. Will she be riding it out to New Glarus for the rally?

Hey, pretty cool, Micah. I bet she loves it. So now I guess she'll be sporting her own ride at the next rally, huh?

Nice ride, the 2012 Speedmaster is a much better looking and handling bike than the 2012 America, IMHO Congrats, will the back rest be coming off the TBird

It's on me now to get the bike fit for her before the new glarus rally. Hopefully lowering shocks come in a timely fashion. I have the brackets to Move the controls back 2 inches sketched up. FWIW I am forbidden to touch the engine (for now) I'll post pictures as the work progresses.

Micah, Sharp ride and @ only 44 on the clock I bet your Missus can't wait to start rackin up some road. Just remind her to keep it moderate until the break-in is over...

I have the bits to lower the bike all on order. Ikon rear lowering shocks, progressive lowering spring kit for the front, and a 2.75 inch lower seat. Once that all arrives and is installed I will be relocating the controls back a bit. Pictures of the progress will be posted. meanwhile I have been riding the bike to get it though its break in period and have a few observations about the 2012 vs my 05. It appears that triumph has addressed a fair number of the short comings on the older models. The mirrors are much, much better, the kick stand has been relocated (so that it can actually be reached without digging for it) better risers (they look like the HD duece risers that many changed to) fuel injection - sweet 2 trip odometers plus it seems more torquey than I recall my 05 to have been stock. so far it is all good. oh, and it weighs less

I enjoyed your little comparison writeup here. Btw, nice work on your wife's bike!

No kit. I made them. They are going to anodize next week so that they will match the frame. Won't even know they are there. And thank you.

Nice looking bike. I remember when my spouse bought me a new Nighthawk 750 back in 2000, made my day! When I bought my America back in 2006 first thing I had to do was install a pair of Raask rear sets to get the foot controls close enough to me so that I could safely control the bike. I do wish I could figure out a way to get the side stand back some too, or maybe I juist need her to buy me a new speedmaster for christmas.
'06 America, Raask foot controls, the bike use to be Graphite and Silver, now its Red and Black.

Very nice! I just bought the 2012 Speedmaster on Sunday and I'm loving it!!! I had heard that you're not suppose to go above 65mph during the break-in period. Is this true? Does this sound right? And why?! I can't wait to get her up over 65 and see what's she's got!!!

the dealer said ride it like you would normally ride, no babying it! it has been over 65mph for sure.

got a bit more done on the Mrs bike before the end of riding season. Added some of the older style crash bars (just in case). The foot control relocation brackets are now anodized black. And I changed the front sprocket from a 18 tooth to a 16 tooth to make it easier taking off from stops (as well as burn outs!)Changing sprockets jacked up the speedometer reading, which in turn had me in the dog house for a weekend, as I changed the spocket the night before a 3 day ride and did not think about the speedo running off the transmission. Later made the speed corrections using tuneECU. also removed the SAI and associated junk.

Nice! I wonder if the 2012 mirrors are a straight fit for older models ?

Turned out awesome, Micah! That's a good looking bike and seems like you've made a good fit for your wife. Great job on the relocation brackets too.
