When I played college ball there was a big push to drug test athletes. This was the early 70s and what surprised me was how many anti-jock so-called intellectual hippie students were in support of it. One justifications was that we were on scholarships. Someone from the media stuck a mic in my face and asked for my opinion, so I gave it. I basically said, we athletes have no problem with with being tested, we have an advantage of scholarships and financial aid. As long as the university test every student on scholarship or receiving financial aid, let the test begin". Needless to say the calls for drug testing stopped.
