Years ago, a friend of mine had a Maico. He always pointed out that it rhymes with "break-o". One day, he was way back in the Hungry Valley offroad park near Gorman CA when it quit and wouldn't start. After a couple hours of tinkering and kicking the starter, he got so angry that he tossed it down the hill. Watching it roll and bounce to the bottom, he realised that he was miles from his truck and his Maico was the only thing that stood between him and a very long walk.
So, he ran down the hill, stood the bike up and it started on the first kick, something that hadn't happened in years. After that, it started right up and ran fine the rest of the year. He felt that throwing it down the hill "made a believer" of it. I think it broke loose some crud that had built up on the reed valve or in the fuel delivery system.
