reading an article in Cycle World that sez Husqvarna was started in 1689 as an Swedish arsenal and has been building bikes since 1903....who knew??? i know it is one of my favorite bikes from my dirt bike yrs and has always been one of the best but i had no idea that they had the history they do. The article talks about them now building street bikes, and that they are building some really fine ones to boot.  thought some of you might find that interesting cuz most of us think of Triumph,hd,Indian and the likes when we think bike history but who thinks of Husky?? and if that is not enough it sez that yhey never had $$problems and have been building continuosly since the begining so.....  interesting

My mum had a Husky sewing machine and dad had a couple of husky shotguns and they make lawnmowers chainsaws and even fridges but the dirtbikes were and are still amazing I think.Not being biased he he

Years ago, a friend of mine had a Maico. He always pointed out that it rhymes with "break-o". One day, he was way back in the Hungry Valley offroad park near Gorman CA when it quit and wouldn't start. After a couple hours of tinkering and kicking the starter, he got so angry that he tossed it down the hill. Watching it roll and bounce to the bottom, he realised that he was miles from his truck and his Maico was the only thing that stood between him and a very long walk.
So, he ran down the hill, stood the bike up and it started on the first kick, something that hadn't happened in years. After that, it started right up and ran fine the rest of the year. He felt that throwing it down the hill "made a believer" of it. I think it broke loose some crud that had built up on the reed valve or in the fuel delivery system.
