Just saw a news flash that astronaut Neil Armstrong who was the first man to step on the moon just died. He was 82...

My parents let me stay off school to watch that small step for mankind on TV. I still think it's one of the most memorable events that have happened in my life time. RIP to a true pioneer of space.
I'd rather ride it than clean it!!!!

We were talking about this at work, I was amazed how many of the kids that work there had no idea who he was.

Dunno if it's a false memory, but I'm pretty sure I was kept up to watch the landing live on telly. I was 2 at the time, so as far as I knew, it was an everyday occurrence. Still, it's the first memory I've got Quote:

Yup, my parents rarely let me stay up past my bed time, but the landing was an exception.. they knew it was history in the making and it would be something that I would remember for the rest of my life. They were right.
Cheers, Brad

The most memorable words of my generation. "One small step for man, one giant leap for mankind." RIP and Godspeed Neil. We watched it on tv while vacationing at the Sea Oats Motel in Myrtle Beach, SC. I'll never forget it also. I was 13 years old.

I found out the guys at work didn't know who he was by making a Trumpet playing joke, when almost no one got it I asked if they knew who he was. For almost all the answer was no!

Oops, That's Neil not Lance. Better get my specs checked. God Speed Neil Armstrong. I still remember that telecast on the day he walked on the moon. Looking up at the moon tonight I can't believe that was so long ago now.

I gotta admire any of those guys with the stones large enough to ride a 363 foot tall / 160,000,000 horsepower vehicle.

A truly class act and probably the most significant human of the 20th century

They had set up a TV in the supermarket where I worked as a boxboy at the time Neil guided the L.E.M. onto the lunar surface, and I'll never forget the cheer that arouse from all us employees and the few patrons there as he and Buzz Aldrin touched down.
(...R.I.P. Neil Armstrong)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Love what the National Review said about the NBC misprint: Quote:
"That’s one small error for a writer, one giant error for an entire news organization."
