Sorry about your bike ,man. That sucks. Been there also. Tanks are ridiculously high. Maybe you should check out e-bay or even here on classified section for a used tank.
When I wrecked my red TBA the dealer wanted to include a new tank in the estimate and the old one was barely scratched. Even w/o the tank I couldn't afford to get it fixed with what the insurance co. was giving me. I had to scrap it and take the cash. It broke my heart because the bike wasn't that far gone. Just the forks and front spoked wheel basically.
Later that month the service manager said someone came in with the bike to have it checked before buying it, It still had the bent forks.
