Yes, much more alert and looking for the possible accident before it happens imo.

Oh yeah. My wife was always critical of her own driving and she says she is a much better driver since taking up riding. I haven't had an accident since I took up riding over 40 years ago.

I really think so, however even on four wheel I still find myself leaning into corners and opening the door to put my foot down at stop signs.

One of my wreckers and a couple cars I have had I could put my foot down without opening the doors.

For sure, Brian. Whether riding or driving I pretty much assume that guy turning left IS going to turn right in front of me making me ready to compensate should the need arise. But there's more than just that... like watching for deer or looking for debris on the road. Yup, riding has contributed to making me a much more alert driver.
Live to love, love to live.

Well, to answer your question here Brian...nope, I don't think my ridin' has helped make me a better driver.
(...and THAT'S 'cause, try as I might, I JUST can't seem to get these cars to lean into turns like my motorcycles do!)
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Years ago, USAA published a story in their magazine quoting studies that proved on average motorcyclist were better and safer automobile drivers than non-motorcyclist.

Without question it has. Riding a bike has also made me take notice to the landscape around me when I am in a car but it still isn't as nice as when I am on the bike.

Definitely a more aware driver. But when driving my wagon I have had to suppress the urge to lane split at the lights.

Its made me hate driving a car.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

As I didn't start driving until I was 23, I'd say that driving a car has made me a better bike rider. More aware of blind spots and such

In fact the more I think about it the more I hate cars.

Yes! Any a retired motor officer telling my mother that back in 1969 is the only reason I got my first bike. A dozen or so motorcycles later.... I've still managed to avoid every accident headed my way (and there've been more than a few)!
It's been my experience that car drivers watch the other cars, bike riders watch the other drivers.

Well, I DO believe it's made me a better gamer. While in my car, I try to run down as many MC's as I can. While on my bike, I try to dodge as many cagers as I can.
And you may see me tonight

Yup, I'd agree with that, riding a motorcycle has increased my hazard awareness on two and four wheels but the boss, she says I'm more patient on the bike than in the cage! Oh and I don't swear as much???
I'd rather ride it than clean it!!!!
