Btw guys...How come I'm not readin' any responses yet about that Loser in Nevada, HUH???!!!
(...just see if I EVER try to get back on topic around here EVER AGAIN!!!)
Well, Sparks is home to a place called "Lake's Crossing", run by the Nevada department of mental health. It's where they keep "mentally disordered offenders", under maximum security. I imagine visitors show up occasionally.

English Majors. And no, my opinion hasn't changed. Their STILL at the top of my "Pompous Ass" list, right there with lawyers and politicians. Oh, I know there's exceptions to the rule, but... Regardless of the volume of ones knowledge, their ignorance is exponential in comparison. Nor is intellect any measure of ones personality, character, or soul. (And yes, I KNOW it's negative.)

But then again, what did you expect would happen with us clowns around here, huh?! I mean this "ain't" the N.R.A. website, ya know!
Now, THOSE fellas over THERE tend to be REAL serious about this topic, ya know. Yep, 5'll get cha 10 your initial question in this thread would've NEVER gone into a discussion about the Second Amendment, LET ALONE about the propriety of the words "ain't" and/or "alright"!
(...yep, one might say those fellas OVER THERE tend to be, if you'll pardon the expression here, "Straight Shooters" alright...or "all right", as the case may be!!!)

Here we are a group of supposedly like minded Triumph riders. Even this small group can't come to anything close to agreement over a single issue. And we wonder why politicians can't. I own any number of weapons and they mostly remain locked away in a gun safe. I really don't feel safer with them. Surely not from governments. The military has some seriously awsome stuff that would pretty much make mine useless. I'v come to believe that most of the gun hype is aimed at keeping us thinking we still have some say in what goes on in this country. These days I tend to find peace of mind in knowing that its just a short matter of time before mother earth shakes us all off like a bad case of fleas.

OK I'm all for guns, even though I don't have any at the moment. But I just don't see what the big deal is on either side of it, yes you need to be safe and teach safety to our children, but accidents and incidents are still gonna happen. Its to bad common sense isn't common. BTW almost ANYTHING can be made into a weapon, and no you don't need fully auto assult rifle to cause a mass casuality, thats been proven throughout history, just look at our education system as an example.
Back on topic of this "off" topic!

Its about protecting freedoms, not by using the guns, but by using the system that was laid out before us. If you think you can out gun the military your nuts. If you plan to out gun a criminal, ok. If you think the country could be invaded by outsiders with plans of over throwing our system, its possible. You may beable to assist in that type of situation. If you think that civil unrest could lead to defending your life and family from violence, that could happen too. A gun is no guarantee of the out come is any of the above situations. The most important thing about the gun owner rights issue is, how far do you want the government to go, and to what end? How much control of your own position do you want to take upon your own shoulders? As for me I'll take full responsibility for my thank you. I don't think anyone else is up to the task. In other words I don't need to worry about any of the things above. I am just going to trust myself rather than anyone else for my safety and security. I don't want my options for handling what ever situation comes my way limited by someone else.
I have no faith in human perfectability. I think that human exertion will have no appreciable effect upon humanity. Man is now only more active - not more happy - nor more wise, than he was 6000 years ago.

I aj just back to the forums, so I am getting into a lot of this late. I have been in law enforcement for twenty four years. I have a number of guns at home and most are in a safe. There are several loaded guns in the house. An unloaded gun, for personal defense, is a rock. I tahught my kids very early about guns and the damage they do. Just like I was taught by my dad who was a cop. It is a tool I carry for work. Now I am more likely to use a cell phone or thumb drive, but I still have to carry a gun. I believe they can be around the house, with kids, the kids just have to be taught.
I have done investigations involving home invasions where people were harmed or killed by the intruders. I have also worked investigtions where intruders were harmed or killed by armed homeowners. I guess I would rather give myself and my kids a fighting chance, but then again I am an old, jaded and cynical kind of guy. Rick

I'm too slow to run away and too old to take a beating.
We all like to think of ourselves as rugged individualists. But when push comes to shove most of us are sheep who do what we are told. Worst of all, a lot of us become unpaid agents of whoever is controlling the agenda by enforcing the current dogma on the few rugged individualists who actually exist.

Made the decision to start with bb/pellet guns as an introduction to firearms with my daughters. They drew pictures of the pesky jackalope and the dreaded bunnicula on cardboard boxes as targets. I'll see how things progress. If any thing, we've had quality family time drawing the images. Hopefully, the weekend will be nice for shooting.
