Hopefully in September I will be able to make the trip down from BC to Washington to visit mount rainier. I have read a few articles and it looks like a nice ride! Does anyone have any advise as to specific areas to visit or perhaps not worth visiting? I have never been and probably will only have a couple days (including travel to and from) to visit.

Rainier is awesome for riding.
There are four loops you can ride but fuel is not so easy to find. I usually fill up in Enumclaw or Ashford depending on what direction Im going around the mountain.
You have to stop for pie at the Copper Creek Inn at the south end on Ashford.
Take the side route over to Sunrise, well worth it for the ride and scenery.
Mind your speed as this is a national park area (animals and authorities).
Last time I rode the big loop the roads were good but needed some maintenence.
We rode to Mowich Lake (Carbon River Ranger Station) last time also... that was nice scenery. A different view of the mountain than normal. Again, not a fast road but nice.

You should have added Mt. St. Helens Windy Ridge, killer ride through the back roads of WA state. If you do Rainier I suggest mid week rather than weekend, unless you prefer traffic.

We live east of Yakima and just rode (on Friday) from Yakima over highway 12 to Highway 7 then north to Tacoma. Beautiful ride, weather and the road was in great shape. Came home today over highway 410 from Enumclaw to Naches (loop 1 and 2 on the above map). The scenery was wonderful, road not so good. Also slower speeds and lots more traffic. They are mountain roads and there were a number of rough spots, but very easy to avoid. We had breakfast at Whistiln Jacks and it was very good.

Enjoy, they're some beautiful mountain roads. BTW, next to no cell service in a lot of the areas on 410.
