I came home from nelson and my wife had gone out with her mom (Celts wife) and got herself some motorxycle gear. I took the wife for a ride to Fort Langley for some dinner. I have never riden with a passenger and she has only been a passenger once before years ago. The drive there is extremely low key. When we arrived to our destination she said "I think I lost 20 pounds because I was so worried!" well we had dinner and off we went home. I took the twisty route home. Once we go home I asked her how was that? Guess what? She loved it. Hopefully a couple more years of little trips and she may want her own bike liscence. That way I can have 2 bikes right? I may be getting ahead of myself but I'll enjoy it all for now.

Sounds like she wants to share your love of bikes. Good for her and good for you for introducing her gently. Personally I don't enjoy being a pillion - no control and limited vision, so because i'm aware of that, I am always extra careful when I take my wife as pillion. I know it would be so easy to scare the crap out of her and she would be always nervous after that. So far she is a confident pillion and always enjoys the ride. For similar reasons I never tell her about my close calls when riding solo.

Y'all do tell your wife's, in a round about way. That is if your wives do your laundry.

My wife quit riding two up when we started having kids, not wanting both parents taken out in one fell swoop. Now, 25 years later, she has 2 bikes of her own including a very sweet black Bonneville.

Same here. Wife took to riding behind me and loved it. I don't think she'll ever own a bike (besides her scooter!) but it is very nice to enjoy rides with SWMBO! Now, if I can keep her from falling asleep behind me sometimes, .... she loves the soothing rumble .... very annoying as the driver!

I could feel her resisting in the first couple of corners but she got better as we wet. Next weekend should be fun! It's our anniversary so we are taking the bike up the sea to sky highway to stay in whistler. We are going to try some zip lining!

My wife was all big time (Cherohala, Dragon, Wolfgang Puck, two drops, 3 bikes) until we rode up Blood Mtn. in a driving lightning/rain storm in darkness this last May. Now she is really, really big time!
In the words of FriarJohn, "well, that was interesting." Will never forget that line or that guy.
Morale of the story is, start slowly and work your way up. My wife avoided riding for the first 10 years of our marriage and has now been riding eagerly for the past 6.. It is a hoot...

Mine has gotten back into it the last year. When she heard I was going to do 2012 Rolling Thunder, she stated she wanted to go. Well, I said OK, but deep down I was worried. So I bought an E-glide and started doing intermediate to long trips prior to Thunder. She made the trip really well, and plenty since then. By the way, now that Rolling Thunder is behind me, I have a 2003 glide with low miles for sale.

My good lady had never rode on a bike until 4 years ago, ridden horses but never a bike. I told her if she can ride a horse, she can sit on the back of a bike! Turns out she's a natural and helps me keep my licence!! Most of our riding is two up now. We nipped out for a pint of milk yesterday, a distance of 2 miles there and back, she said "lets take the scenic route home", so I told her to tell me which roads to take. 68 miles later we got home! She said "well it was such a lovely evening I didnt want to go straight home"! No complaints here about riding two up.
I'd rather ride it than clean it!!!!
