 Change front brake pads w/ tire?

At 8500 miles, my original equipment front tire is pretty much toast. Time to go. I plan to replace it w/ an Avon soon. It seems like since I plan on the Avon lasting more that 8500 miles, changing the front brake pads while the front wheel is off makes pretty good sense. It's hard to imagine the OE brake pads lasting 17,000 miles.
Suggestions? Response? No brainer?

Pads don't cost much. As long as you have the wheel off, and with those kind of miles, why not?

Keep in mind that you DON'T need to remove the wheel when you replace pads, you just remove the two bolts holding the caliper to the fork legs, insert pads, and re-bolt caliper to fork leg. So, just do it when the pad material looks thin, and don't use wheel removal as a consideration.

Absolutely right. I wasn't thinkin...
but you DO have to remove the caliper to get the wheel off (or at least it makes it a ton easier), so Rich you're still on the right track if the pads are questionable anyway
