Quick update on how my tires are going. The front has now traveled 15,000km and shows a measurement of 2(ish)mm center and not quite 3mm at the edge's. Not down to wear marks yet, should be good for another couple of thousand k's. The rear is at 10,000km and shows 5mm center and about 7 1/2mm edge's. That one is lasting well. Do have to revise my opinion of the rear in the wet though, could be better.
