WELL! Like many a great plan this one got thrown out the window as soon as I tried to implement it.
Despite the distributor listing an Avon to fit they didn't actually have one and its a 2 month wait till new stock arrives.
So I have fitted a Michelin Pilot Activ in the original size which I will match up to a Commander 2 when I need it (have one on order so it will be here when I need it).
So far have only done about 50k's on it, but feels quite good. Will give more feed back over time
Well, have now put about 300k's on the front. It has scrubbed in nicely. It seems to be a slightly different shape to the awful lasertec, I seem to be using it almost to the edge- about 5mm on either side till I run out of tire. 
Of course it could just be that I'm much more confident with this tire, but I don't think its all that. It just feels nicer. The 'feel' coming back through the bars is just so much better than before. More update's as time goes by.
