Went on a little 120 mile cruise along the river road this morning. Thought I'd see what I would get by waving at quite a few "bicyclist's". (My dad and I ran a bicycle shop for 35 years, so I have a certain affinity for the "other" two wheeled machines.) Didn't get a single wave back. A couple of glares, maybe. But I DID admire some of their streamlined helmets and on the girls, their tight, form fitting shiny suits.

So, let me get this straight. You performed experiments on the bicyclist waving, bicyclist fashion and your conclusion is that you are still alive ( on the girls, their tight, form fitting shiny suits ).

I'll wave at any bike but some HD riders won't wave possibly due to the helmet. A coworker with a Harley wears a helmet most of the time notices the same thing. The plastic waving hand is from the early 80's all truckers waved at each other on the road and just like too many bikes to wave back at some one came up with that plastic hand on a spring and it just bounced back and fourth waving at everybody. I remember the closed fist in the 70's when 2 modified vans would meet on the road the arms would come out the windows. Hilarious now.

Hmmmm...ya know Mike, after now permanently residing in the helmet-optional state of Arizona for about 3 1/2 years now, I've gotta say that I've kinda noticed that there's this tendency(but not ALWAYS, of course) for that to happen around there, TOO!
And sooooooo, I guess the ONLY conclusion I can draw from THIS is that those who choose to wear helmets have "a tendency" to NOT ONLY be a little SMARTER, but to ALSO be a little bit more FRIENDLY out there TOO!!!!!!!
(...okay all you out there who choose to ride lid-less, let me hear it...I KNOW your wrath will soon be directed my way after what I just said...but don't worry, I CAN TAKE IT!!!...but REMEMBER, I said that there's JUST a freakin' "TENDENCY" here, so NATURALLY my statement was NOT "all-encompassing"...REMEMBER?!!!!) 
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Same as me, I tend to do the "high wave".
Although I tend to ignore the little automatic 50cc scooters, as I think they are just using them until they get a car license.
One time a bunch of Outlaws were going in the opposite direction and I wasn't going to bother waving, but the leader gave me a nod so I returned it.
I've even waved while scraping the pegs, after all, the bike can handle it
