 coolant leak?

Was cleaning bike yesterday and noticed trace amounts of coolant on the outside of the left cylinder(left if you were sitting on it)about 5 or 6 fins down.Any ideas what this might be from or what direction to head in 1st.As much as I would hate to might have to resort to dealer or research for a small independent shop with a good reputation.

If you do anything be sure you get the right coolant! Now I need to go check the coolant in my 63 VW Bug.

All kidding aside, there is no coolant in America / Speedys, they are air cooled. That small radiator on the front is an oil cooler. If what you found isn't oil, it's probably just condensation or water from washing or rain. If it's oil, check your valve cover. Dog has a sense of humor....VW

OPPPPPPSSSS  LOLOLO I swear it looked just like coolant watery with a greenish tint but now thinking about. Sort of a blunder on my behalf. Let me tell you how happy I am that it is not coolant that means just got to get this cam cover seal replaced. phewwwwwww Thank Again

Don't feel embarrassed, I took a just bought new BMW 320i in once, because something was leaking on the front passenger side wheel. The shop sent a guy out front, he stuck his finger in the fluid, smelled it, shook his head and informed me a dog had pissed on my wheel. I never lived that down at that dealership, so, you're not alone.

True story, first new car I ever owned, right out of college, huge investment. I'd worked on bikes and old cars, but that thing looked like nothing I'd ever seen before under the hood. Of course now all cars look like that. Not my proudest moment at the time, funny now.

A real common one around here is A/C evaporator condensation puddles. We have so much dry heat there is usually no condensation that makes it to the pavement so when the monsoon season starts (like right now) the humidity increases, and so do the panicked drivers wondering what that "leak" is.
