First, it's an election year in the US. Be prepared for total demagoguery from the politicians. The fact is 1/2 of all the illegal immigrants are here with expired visas of all sorts. It is totally racist to make it look like all the illegals are hispanic. That is what the righ wing wackos are doing. What has to happen is to decriminalize the act of crossing the boarder. We would save billions. If someone wants to come in and work they have to register. This would certainly make it safer for those that want to come here. It would eliminate the "coyotes" that prey on these innocent victims. Criminals/drug dealers would still have to cross illegally, but with the border patrol freed up from chasing potentially legal visitors, they would have the man power to do it properly. Decriminalizing would also make it easier to track who is i the country. Homeland Security is a joke. We would have better control of our borders if we decriminalize immigration. Sorry for the rant, but I am totally pissed off by demagogues.
