Just an all around talent. Actor, musician, story teller. Could play the straight guy or the bumbler. Early in the Andy Griffith Show Sherriff Taylor was the corn pone funny clown prince but as the show progressed Andy realized he had a great cast of characters to feed off and he changed his role to the straight man.
One of the best stories I recall from my childhood was listening to Andy’s “ What It Was, Was Football”
