My wife and I recently moved into the 21st century by buying a small device which provides an interface between our wireless router and our TV which permits us to finally have NetFlix streamed into our home over the intergooglewebnet. One of the programs we've discovered and have become somewhat addicted to lately has been the "Doc Martin" series, a comedy/drama set in the fictional seaside village of Portwenn in Cornwall. The story revolves around a people averse London surgeon who has an onset of homophobia and must realign his medical career to something not involving the sight of blood as often as that of a surgeon, so he applies for a position as the village GP. The stories are engagingly humorous, the scenery is absolutely beautiful, and the characters draw you into their lives. If you haven't yet seen it, I recommend looking for it on NetFlix, if you have that service. The other night someone used a term my wife didn't recognize, so I had to explain what it means when someone calls another a "tosser." BBC rocks!

You can never go wrong with a bit of Cornish countryside. I've never really watched the series myself but catch bits of the re-runs being shown at the moment. Martin Clunes is pretty funny. Even a grumpy bugger like Doc Martin has a laugh from time to time ...

Dittos here, recently obtained a Roku thingy with Netflix and Amazon Prime subscriptions, they fill holes in each other's content. It's amazing.
The BBC "Doc Martin" series is very good, watched it on PBS. Most BBC mini series are top notch, the Netflx/Amazon combined catalogs are almost complete. I particularly like the BBC period pieces.

ROKU rocks, and the customer service has been great in helping me with an issue I had setting it up. Target has these on sale from time to time. If you ever have trouble downloading flicks over WiFi, check your router download speed first. There are several on-line sites that do this for free.

Hemophobia not homophobia..... Only pointing it out because it initially threw me off. I then had to look up "fear of blood" on Wikipedia

JC....they have the internet in Arkansas?
Just kidding. My favorite line by Doc Martin was when a patient called in an emergency and needed the Doc to make a house call. "You'd better be dying!"

Great series.Like Doc Martins Dry sense of humour. Went to the place they did the filming when I was down in cornwall early on in the year. "Port Isaac". Was very busy and this was out of season. So what it is like in the summer I dread to think. Alot of it, is due to Doc Martin series. Its a very small Village by the coast. But cornwall has plenty of these all over .I think Cornwall is one of the best places in the UK. Try to go there as much as I can. atb geoff

Yes, and I'm fairly certain I typed it correctly, since I just tried again, and my iMac autocorrected to homophobia. Evidently, my iMac has some issues to be worked out...

Working in health care I frequently use the term 'caregiver'. The auto correct like to change it to 'carnivore'. I get some strange looks when that one slips through.

Martin Clunes does a series of insurance adverts (for Churchill Insurance). I'd forgotten about this one but it's being shown again at the moment ...

I'm guessing that's a talking bulldog, Churchill?

Come on! That's just his character who is grumpy! Great show btw. I watch is on free TV every Sunday at 8pm. Free TV is that aerial thang attached to the house gable...

I like the show immensely. Lynn? Not so much!

We know. Do you get an even older show "Men behaving badly" with Martin Clunes and Neil Morrissey? It ran from early 1991 to late 1998

Okay y'all. I have looked into an alternative to the Wii box specifically, those black boxes discussed briefly above. I have tried to get a HD cable for the Wii but the one I received was crap as it did not thoughput a video signal! Thus I cannot discern if indeed having such a Nintendo Wii Component HDTV AV High Definition AV Cable would indeed output a wide screen HD signal to the HD TV we paid too much $$ for. I mean heck, the Wii player documentation says the Accessory cable upgrades the signal from a 480i to a 480p. What? not even 720p? Jeez. Do these black boxes output a betterer signal? Or is the signal more dependent on the website one chooses to use? Regardless, if I can purchase a wireless TV device that specs at least 720p I'll toss the Wii in favor of same.
(Tosser = An idiot, a contemptible person.)
American slang would be focker.

I like it when she says, "Mahtin" in her loovly Cornish (I presume) accent. She is what I would describe as "approach-ably attractive."

Well, I don't know what her accent is, but it shore is loovly and and a darn sight more appealing to the ear than some of the ones we have here in Arkansas.
