I'll throw in 2 cents for the Texas Hill Country. 3 Sisters, Enchanted Rock, the Lost Pines, some of the best BBQ around is in Lockhart. Out west you have the Big Bend State and National Parks with their River Road. All best seen in Spring or Fall.

And because its Texas its fabulous, culture, refinement, and rustication all in one big welcoming package.

I can add a couple: -take a spin up Route 7 into Litchfield County if spring or summertime, nice small towns, quaint feel, winds along the very slowly rolling Housatonic. Stop at Bulls Bridge. -up in Maine, you can do the Acadia thing, and Bar Harbor, or maybe an hour south, go to Blue Hill and then down to Stonington/Deer Isle for all the touristy stuff without all the touristys. Much more relaxed, less crowded, still good seafood, and lots of twisty back roads that run along the Gulf of Maine. Out in Colorado, I've heard the Million Dollar Highway down near Ouray is pretty spectacular, meaning to head down that way when I can. -The Grand Tetons are pretty darn impressive as Yellowstone, but less crowded, and fun to swing down to Jackson Hole. - maybe a stop out into the Ogalala National Grasslands to get a sense of what the old west prairie REALLY was like before it became endless subdivisions of 0.1 acre homes... - a cruise out to Bear Lake in Utah or Lake Tahoe -oh, and I'll agree with San Fransisco, beautiful town.

Hey John, For more of the off-beat you might try: 1) The World's Largest Coffee Pot at the SAPP Brothers truck stop in eastern Nebraska along I-80 2) the World's Largest Dairy Cow in Salem, North Dakota along I-94 3) A perennial crowd pleaser is the World's Largest Prairie Dog (Dawg) in western Kansas along whatever the I in Kansas is, probably 70. Note these are all states of the great american prairie, where folks are forced to use whatever the baking sun left of their so-called brains. Aiming to please jh

John, just out of curiosity, how many bullet holes does that prairie dog have in him?

Here's a 'don't waste your time' recommendation, the Tail of the Dragon (Deal's Gap) on the TN/NC border. Locally it's known as 'just another road' EXCEPT it's crawling with cops, kids on sport bikes, and Winnebagos. I live near it and I avoid it.
Look on a map and randomly pick any other squiggly line in the region and you'll probably have a better riding experience.

Now HOW many times do I have to tell you guys that the BIGGEST coffee pot in the world is in Sedona?!!! (...in fact, I see it plain as day from my house here!) https://www.google.com/search?q=coffee+p...945&bih=969
Yep! Just like a good Single Malt Scotch, you might call me "an acquired taste" TOO.(among the many OTHER things you may care to call me, of course)

Dwight also lives quite near the World's Largest Kokapelli, I have a picture of it from my trip out that way.

Now that's pretty good. Of course, anyone can add to it but I'd have to go along with your list.
+1 on this list.... but I would trade the Golden Gate Bridge @ sunset, for a nice ride along the Shennadoah Skyline Drive in VA any day. Ya seen one suspension bridge, ya pretty much have seen em' all.
BTW, I've backpacked in/around/thru most of these places and they are indeed America's top ten (except for the bridge). Our National Park System provides visitors (via private sector service providers [resturants, hotels & etc.] with all the ammenities (if you want them). These are indeed the gems of the American landscape! But half the fun is just getting there.....

If you are a fan of railroading, don't miss the Tehachapi loop east of Bakersfield CA, the huge shunting yard at North Platte NE and the horse shoe curve near Altoona PA.

Of course I have been past this one a couple of times on bike trips... once with Moe coming back from the Ark. Rally and once with Nina on our swing back east. The worlds largest statue of a Raven (Ravenden, AR)

How do you pour that thing?
First, you post "In Case of Flash Flood, Climb to Higher Ground" signs around your kitchen, then if you so desire, throw in a 50lb bag of sugar and one milk can of creamer....

This picture doesn't belong here, Brent. It should be in a thread called, "Top 10 must see's in CANADA!" (Yeah, I'm that much of a legend up here, well in my own mind anyway! )
