no many of them are different, i beleive there is a standard "head" size but very rarely goes that way, Bell helmets for instance fit tighter then say Shoi or Nolan, some are egg shaped while others are more oval.

Ok then I guess this was coming sooner or later so here it is.
Bell vs scorpion or any other company is there a best or is just a matter of preference or how much cash you want to roll out?
Thanks

I actually own both. A bell Half and a scorpion full face. I'm thinking they are both same size. Both fit great, I'd find something in your price range that you like, I'd suggest at least DOT approved maybe both, (my scorpion has both). Anyway find one or a few you like read reviews, ask opinions then go to a shop and see how they feel on. Walk around the store in it to get a good feel. I mean this thing is gonna be on your head for a while I assume. Even if you plan on odering it online I'd still try one on in person.

i just bought a new Bell Revolver Evo modular and i think its a great helmet, just order one size bigger in the bell, i am usually a medium and the large fit perfect. i think its about 200 bucks or so, DOT has places for speakers, inside visor fog free shield etc, i like it very much.

Many of the very expensive manufacturers have different shaped helmets for different shaped heads.

Proper fit is crucial if you ever intend to wear it. Like poor-fitting pair of shoes or boots, you may not realize it for a while, then, when you do, you will feel it soon after putting them on again forevermore.

Try some on, find the right fit.

Try a DAVIDA.
Its a UK helmet which comes up one size small but is a superb item if you go one size larger.
It may be expensive but its great,Quiet and a tight fit & really comfortable when broken in.

Webbikeworld is a treasure of info when it comes to getting the gear you need, especially for helmets. You ca find out which ones are round shaped, or more oval, the weight, the features that works (and the ones that don't!)

At a minimum, if its not DOT and/or Snell, its not worth putting on your head, regardless the price. Also, most face impacts in a crash are on the lower face/jaw, so I recommend a full face helmet.

After that, its about the quality of the materials, features, etc. A cheaper helmet may weigh more, have less smooth operation, poorer venting, etc, but it will still protect your head just the same as an expensive helmet - they all meet the same standards.

More and more, the less expensive helmets have the basic features and quality you'd want, and since they are supposed to be replaced every five years anyway (Snell recommendation), why outlay a lot of money?

More expensive helmets can have better wind noise isolation, head stabilization at speed, anti-fogging, etc., but imo that is more important on a sport bike or for high-speed riding. On a cruiser, its not as critical.

A few of the helmet manufacturers do use different size shells for the different sizes they make. Shoei uses 4 different shell sizes. One for XS and S, one for Med, one for Large, and the fourth for X-large and XX-Large. Daytona Helmets also use 4 different size shells. I have a DOT rated half helmet by Daytona Helmets size medium, and it only weights 15 ounces. Bell and Aria use only one size shell. Not sure about Scorpion helmets.

You may be correct on Aria using only one shell size, but they do produce different shells for different shaped heads.
