If money wasn't so tight, I'd love to have one. Even with the funds, it wouldn't be practical to buy it unless a dealer opened in Central Arkansas. Wouldn't have time to ride to Memphis for warranty work etc.
Didn't buy into the hype, you can keep the change.

Ah, a few more details - first thing I looked at was the weight - 670 lbs vs 520 for the old trophy or the r1200rt. oops. Two inches lower seat height than either of those so we'll see how it feels. I'm still excited.

And a 6.9 gallon gas tank. That'll cover some miles. I wouldn't have to fill up everyday going to work.

I know the specs are a little different, but looks like a Sprint GT to me... All good, but not earth shattering. Looks like BMW has a target on their back.

Oh baby, here we go rock-n-roll! This company is positioning itself to take sales from every major bike manufacturer on the planet and IMHO will be in the top five in pure motorcycle sales within 15 years. There are a lot of 18-25 year olds given Triumph some serious looks. I expect to see a 175-250cc bike in a year or two. Bringing the youngsters into the fold as well. Triumph is building great machines and I'm sure the new Trophy is another one and I'm proud to be a part of the rebuilding of this iconic brand Triumph Rules !

I like it. But it does kinda look like an RT w/o the boxer engine. 6.9 gal tank. That'll be good for about 300 miles or so. It'll easily go for $16K probably closer to 17 with all the high tech electronics.

I am trying to start the boss thinking now about this. Of course, now Triumph have waited until I have TWO kids in college to announce the new Trophy.

I bought a new RT last year and am amazed at how similar the photos are to the BMW. I was having some remorse until I saw the weight. It's over 90 lbs heavier than the RT. Weight was a major factor in my choice of the RT although its difficult to detect except in a parking lot. Anyway, since its a Triumph, I probably would have bought one if it had been available last November but I don't regret buying the BMW. It's a great touring machine and a good change when not cruising on the TBA.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. The RT is a real nice machine and the Trophy should be too.

I don't know about that. If they price it at 20K it's getting in to the BMW 1600GT area. IMO they are going to have to price it way below that to stay competeive with all the other Sport Touring bikes from Japan Inc.

Well Mike I went online to check the starting prices of all the sport touring bikes I could think of. Moto Guzzi Norge 1200- $16,290 Yamaha FJR 1300 $15,590 Kawasaki Concours 1400 $15,899 BMW 1200 RT $17,350 BMW K 1600 GT $20,900 Honda ST 1300 $18,230 So I'm thinking what you said. The new Trophy should come in around $17,500 or below. I was surprised at the price of a Honda ST. Hey but I've been wrong before.

Based on Paul and JR's numbers, I am guessing 16-17 for the standard and 17-19 for the SE. I am not-so-secretly hoping for 13, but then I can be something of a wishful thinker.

Yeah and based on the article Ryan posted, North America isn't getting the entry level Trophy but just the SE.

There needs to be a red one. And what's the deal with the bags? They look like they were stolen from BMW and a Triumph logo was stuck on em. They should have named the whole bike the Triumph R1200 RT.

If the seat height was 3 inches lower to the ground I would buy one as soon as I saw one in the dealership. 5'5" inches in height does limit the choices I have in bikes.
'06 America, Raask foot controls, the bike use to be Graphite and Silver, now its Red and Black.

Yeah, I bet the US prices will be less but an R1200RT in Toronto is msrp 20,450. I'm afraid the SE will be at least that. Then there's tax and lord knows what else - if i trade my america in it will help some with that but I've started telling Claire my 65th birthday present will be a $25K motorcycle. Better to soften her up now!
Oh, Also, +1 on the red!

Thinking that myself, The UK price for the SE looks to be comparable to the BMW RT. And the extra weight of the Trophy I,m thinking is going to be higher on it as well.
I can see the Sprint GT being dropped from the line up, so a good deal may be on the cards.

Well that style RT has been around since 2005. Isn't BMW supposed to make the boxter engine water cooled in the near future? They look pretty dang similar to me, which probably is not a coincidence since Triumph wants some of the action of the Sport Touring market.$$$

I guess when you design a full fairing for a sit up position with panniers in a wind tunnel you get the same results. but there are still meny differences in the bikes, engine, front suspension is totaly different, pretty sure they will sound different as well.

I like the look, the lines are crisper and not blurred into the adjacent panels. Love the blue, too. This just adds yet another jewel to my totally unmanageable wish list...
